Once, I was a proud Lankhorst rope.
I hauled, held and heaved without complaint. I endured salt, strain, savage weather and more than a few tug ops who insisted, “She’ll be right, mate.”
Then came retirement. I feared the skip. The scrap heap.
But here in Australia, old ropes don’t simply fade away; they become art.
Now I lounge beside the beach, dramatically draped around a giant reel and sewing needle, while strangers photograph me and quietly debate what I’m supposed to represent.
Am I a tribute to maritime strength?
A celebration of sustainability?
A profound commentary on industry and the ocean?
Mate… I’m a retired rope enjoying the Queensland sunshine. For sale $4,000.

Lankoline® 3XR is engineered to fail progressively rather than release its stored energy in a sudden, violent break. At first break, approximately 80% of the energy is dissipated while the rope remains together providing a clear, visible warning that the line has reached its limit.

That warning can give crews valuable time to recognise the danger, move clear and respond.
