I'm perpetually overworked and have little spare time but I love a good metal shaper so been working on this between jobs, swedish heavy iron with unusually large 60 degree ram slideways. Custom 150mm dovetail cutter and russell of walker precision working his magic. Many decades of abuse but it still has that dog in it.

Bought this odd chunky 320mm swing x 1000mm cc lathe for 4.4k while i was making a new clutch shaft for my main lathe. I was planning on selling it once I was finished with it but it had years of plastic swarf wrapped around the oil slinger which clogged the oil return and fed plastic through the main bearing. Cue the scope creep, headstock stripped scraped and matched to its plinth, sandblasted and sealed with some gearbox specific white paint designed for immersion in oil. New high precision spindle bearings plus every other bearing, seal, o ring etc plus a new selector fork with a modified design to stop to wear from its mating gear. Gap section scraped and bed matched. Tailstock ways scraped but saddle ways left only partially finished. Later mechanical brake removed and the always wonderfull Mr gregg wired in a vfd and breaking resistor for silky snooth electronic braking and speed control. Aside from inside the headstock it still has its terrible original paint but a real pleasure for screw cutting with even a 20mm pitch straight off the quick change box with no shaft gears. Converted to a solid toolpost just needs a aikron dro now

Haven't posted much for a while as I've been busy assisting a close friends business who was struggling to get fabricators as well as my jobbing work. Pranked him into buying a 3000mm x 1500mm fixture table plus accessories which is now on loan at my factory. I'm big on fixturing and jigs to speed up work. To mitigate my higher labour cost I've implemented as many measures as possible along with an basic quoting system on excel so i am working not on hourly but rather on output.
