BUILD UPDATE – 750 Centre Cab
A feature on a fantastic build from last year from one of our 750 Centre Cab kits - the first with the forward raked windows option. Andy C from Perth came back for his fourth build with us, and delivered a hotworks hull for the owner to complete the fit out and finish off.
Did a fabulous job as you can see from the photos, including some pics from a recent trip to the Montebello’s. I won’t waste too many words describing this one - be sure to check out the video of the 750 doing what it does best.
"Drop a 🔥 if you'd do the same run to the Montebellos. Tell us what your first big trip will be?"

BUILD UPDATE – 830HTX
This is an extended hardtop version of our 830 series, in a twin-engine configuration this time, currently underway with Flakemore Plate Boats down in TAS. The HTX has the extended awning to give a bit more shelter to the cockpit, but still leaving plenty of room for rod fishing. The hull shape has a little more variable deadrise than our smaller boats. Its very deep forward resulting in an exceptionally smooth ride, but the variable deadrise makes for good lower speed planing performance.
She’s a big unit, but still able to squeeze under 3.5t on an ali trailer with part fuel load. Specifications are on the GA drawing among the photos. 3Ds are of the single engine version.

"Twin or single? Drop your pick in the comments — and tell us why."

NEW MODEL – 655HT

Our 640 series has had a revamp, now with a raised sheerline but keeping the same basic hull shape. The first build kit for the 655 Hardtop is underway in South Australia, and a twin engine version in the queue for cutting for a client in TAS.
Arranged for cockpit space as a priority, there’s still a full length sleeping room in the v-berth using an extension piece aft of the dash. Alternatively there’s a lockup forward cab with full dash bulkhead as an option.
Like all our monohull kits, the 655 series features our super soft-riding deep vee, flooding keel hull design. Specs are included on the GA drawing, or visit our website for more information.

Thinking about a hardtop in this size range, or curious how the 655 compares to the 615?
Ask away in the comments. I’m always happy to talk through what's going to suit your situation best.

NEW MODEL – 750CAB – First Delivery

The first kit for the full cabin version of our 750 series has just landed in Melbourne and is getting underway as we speak. Compared with the standard Hardtop, the Full Cab version’s about 300mm longer in the helm area to give some space behind the seats, and room for the aft bulkhead and doors to make it fully enclosed. It's also slightly longer in the v-berth, allowing for full-length stretch-out sleeping.

Like all our monohull kits, the 750 series features our super soft-riding deep vee, flooding keel hull design. Specs are included on the GA drawing, or visit our website for more information.

This one's getting a heap of the owners detail tweaks and options including a full width battery box and a side door for wheelchair access. The 3Ds are of the standard version, build photos to follow as soon as we can get our hands on them!

We’d love to hear your take; Cab vs Hardtop?
With the Cab also available without the aft bulkhead, which layout suits you best and why?

11.5m Unmanned Survey Vessel
Article #2 in our feature on commercial projects this week.

Autonomous or unmanned survey vessels are revolutionising the world of hydrographic surveys. A single unmanned vessel can effectively take on the survey workload of a much larger vessel. Deployed in numbers in conjunction with a mothership or support vessel, they can provide a step change in productivity.

This was a first-of for EGS Australia, and a hybrid which allowed for manned as well as unmanned operations. The outwardly simple-looking exterior belies a bewilderingly complex set of constraints and operational requirements we managed to successfully integrate into the design. To cherry pick one particular example, an operational range of 2200 nautical miles in an 11.5m vessel! Roughly Hobart to Cape York; the concept is to bring the boat in for fuel when the engine hits a scheduled service interval.

5m Work Boat
This week we're showcasing some of our commercial designs. Today's feature is the baby of the fleet; a pair of 5m workboats we designed and contract built for Water Corporation here in Perth. Designed primarily for metro area dams, they also had to be able to operate on Cockburn Sound, hence the deep V level flotation design and built-in side buoyancy. A super versatile little boat, with recreational versions on the drawing board.

Comment 'RECOVERY' for more information, and I'll DM you.

Commercial Builds
Our page has always been primarily about our recreational kits and designs. However, the work we do in larger commercial vessels is one of the things that sets us apart. The in-house expertise we have from designing large, complex vessels flows down into the smaller boats, and ups the anti in terms of design. This week, we will be showcasing some recent work in the commercial sector.

First cab off the rank is a 20m Offshore Patrol Vessel for NSW Government currently under construction at Yamba Welding and Engineering on the NSW north Coast. It's designed as a multi role vessel including for search and rescue, pollution response, compliance and enforcement, management of aquatic events amongst others. Headline features include a 5m RIB in a launch-way in the transom, two PWCs, and a cargo deck crane. Fuel capacity is sufficient for missions as far away as Lord Howe Island at 20 knots.
If you're in fleet procurement or commercial marine operations, let's talk, comment - 'Commercial Fleet' and I'll DM you directly.

This is a 680 Centre Cab, built by a first-time boat builder from one of our NC cut kits. The boat was built over about 6 months of weekends according to the owner, including fitout and the ali trailer.

Not everyone will achieve that rate of productivity, but some may even be quicker! It does show what’s achievable if you’re handy with tools, are organised and have a plan.

A footnote on the design; the 680 is being replaced by the 700 series with the new raised sheerline; see the image below.
