VU Motorsport VU Motorsport is a team of students from Victoria University, studying in a wide array of courses inc

Students from Victoria University Melbourne work in interdisciplinary teams using concurrent engineering and systems engineering principles applied to complex mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic systems. The students directly involved with Victoria University Motorsport (VUM) aim at researching, designing, building, developing, and lastly competing with a Formula SAE car for intercollegiate competition. Students will have learned to be able to apply engineering, mathematical, and communication tools. They will have the ability to solve problems, function in professional environments and be able to gather information that would rarely ever be covered in formal courses. Students will have the ability to design fully comprehensive race vehicles using an engineering systems approach including: considering stakeholders, requirements, functions, structure and implementation. Students will learn how to maximize their design points in order for the team to win in the competition: trading off costs, time management, innovative technology, training, etc. Finally, the current team members establish an inviting environment for future team members to be able to understand various subsystems as well as learn how to apply engineering through research, optimization, communication skills and innovation.

🏎️ VUM at Victoria University Brimbank Tech School Open Day!

Victoria University Motorsport was proud to attend the Brimbank Tech School Open Day, where we had the opportunity to showcase our team, connect with the community, and display our 2022 Formula SAE car, Abi.

The day was also a big milestone for VUM as we officially unveiled our new sponsors for the 2026 season, including our new Major Sponsor, REALIS. We’re incredibly excited to welcome REALIS on board and grateful for their support as we continue developing our team and pushing towards Formula SAE-A.

A huge thank you to Victoria University Brimbank Tech School for having us, and to everyone who came over for a chat, checked out the car, and learnt a little more about Formula SAE and what we do at VUM.

And, of course, thank you to all of our sponsors whose support makes it possible for our students to design, manufacture and race a Formula SAE car. We’re looking forward to showing you what we can achieve together this year. 🏁

Welcome to the VUM family, REALIS!
