Testing drone assisted Pig hunting. With some fine tuning this will be an effective way to search for and destroy feral animals as opposed to spending hours of driving through bushland spotlighting trying to locate them. With an aerial advantage, the animals thermal signature / species can be recognised and ground shooters with comms can be guided to their location. A quad or multi rotor UAV as opposed to a fixed wing can hover in a GPS stabilised position allowing movement detection which is difficult with a moving winged UAV.

Finally, some video of feral dogs. The footage isn't great, however, it shows they can be found using new thermal technology from the air. These elusive animals will hopefully be managed better using this system in conjunction with current control methods.

Some various footage taken from out west with some isotherm (preset temp alarm) footage of Roos, a feral cat and a Fox that was seen from nearly 1km away before flying over to inspect the thermal signature.

We have been fortunate enough to be invited by the Western Downs Regional Council to use our drone / UAV equipped with the IR camera, to fly over sampling points and measure feral pig populations at specific sites. The footage we have recorded has brought new data to the table that will hopefully be used to assist with current control methods to reduce their numbers. The cost to, not only to the landowners, but also the environment is huge, and these invasive species are an additional strain to the farming community who are continually impacted by these pests. The video shows how easily these animals are detected at night when they are active, and damaging crops. Im positive that drones carrying out aerial surveys will assist in mitigating unnecessary costs to our struggling agricultural sector.

The new Zenmuse XTR thermal camera / core sees everything with a heat signature. This clip of some livestock was taken approx 1km away from them and they were clearly visible.
Nothing hides from a FLIR core!
