SEAPA at the PCSGA Conference 2026 in Blaine, Washington, USA🦪🌊

Our team, Zach and Erik, attended the 80th Annual Pacific Coast Shellfish Growers Association (PCSGA) Conference & Tradeshow, connecting with growers, industry partners and others across the shellfish community.

Events like this are a great opportunity to listen, learn and exchange ideas about what’s happening across the industry and the challenges growers are facing.

From trialling 150 REVO baskets to around 3,000 REVO baskets — plus SEAPA Helix!🦪

Let’s hear from Justin at Abrolhos Island Oysters about his experience using SEAPA’s Surface Drying System – REVO, in the exposed conditions of the Abrolhos Islands, Western Australia🌊

After initially farming subtidally and later trialling a non-SEAPA floating system, Justin was dealing with challenges including biofouling over rumbling and no growth issues in the floating system.

Looking for a more efficient way to manage commercial quantities of oysters, Justin was introduced to the SEAPA REVO system and began with around 150 baskets across two small longlines.

After seeing promising results after about one month, the farm has now transitioned to around 3,000 REVO baskets, using both 6 mm and 12 mm mesh.

“The latest stock coming through is looking really clean… and seems to be growing well.”

With regular summer southerly winds around 20 knots and an exposed farming environment, the team is continuing to fine-tune the system, including deploying the SEAPA Helix flipping and experimenting with stocking densities, to support quicker and more consistent growth.

This is why we value spending time on-farm — understanding the conditions, listening to growers, and learning how our gear performs across different farming environments.

What do 3,000 REVO baskets look like in action?🦪

Welcome to the incredible and historic Abrolhos Islands in Western Australia, located around 60-80 km off the WA coast and surrounded by extensive coral reefs.

Strongly influenced by the Leeuwin Current, the islands are exposed to unique open-ocean conditions in the Indian Ocean.

Our SEAPA team recently had the opportunity to visit Abrolhos Island Oysters and see the REVO system operating on their farm.

One of the most valuable parts of the visit was hearing directly from three growers with extensive industry experience: Justin, Josh and Brady. They shared the positive difference they have seen since introducing REVO to their farm.

Due to the extreme conditions, non-SEAPA systems previously trialled on the farm caused excessive rumbling, which dramatically slowed oyster growth.

Since introducing REVO, they have seen noticeably improved growth, reduced rumbling, greater stability and balance, and more flexibility to fine-tune the system to suit their conditions - helping them get the most out of their farm.

For us, these visits are important because they give us the opportunity to listen, learn and better understand how our products perform in real farming conditions.
