Friday morning 9 till noon, we have an OpShop at Dora Creek Community Hall, except when there is a public holiday on a Friday or a Monday.
We also close for 3 or 4 weeks over Christmas and January.

The Hall is owned by the community, funds are raised to keep operating the Hall.

JULY is Dora Creek Hall’s next big 3 day Garage Sale.

Friday 17th, Saturday 18th July 9am-2pm.
Sunday 19th July 9am-NOON.

We are always grateful to receive quality donations.

Best time to make donations prior to our Garage Sale dates is of a Friday morning OpShop, until noon.

Donations throughout the weekend of the Garage Sale are best made on Friday and Saturday.

Due to the age of volunteers and associated health conditions that come with the ageing process, we no longer accept bulky furniture items.

Well done Allan N, thank you for your volunteering and passion shown for revitalizing the squash centre in Dora Creek, wishing you all the very best.

If only more people realised the benefits of community volunteering, the world in general would be in a better place.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT 📣

Please be advised that Allan N is stepping down from his roles as President of Lake Macquarie Squash Association and Watagan Squash & Wellness effective immediately.

Some might be aware that Allan has been struggling with Cystic Fibrosis and has been focusing on tests and treatment, as well as the symptoms that come along with the condition

We are sure many will agree that, with the other Board members, he has been instrumental in assisting build Watagan Squash to the success it has become. We have record income, memberships and a strong reputation as a competitive club and great hub for the local community. This includes new players, many women and juniors now within our player membership

“I’m extremely proud to look back over 2 years to see how we transformed the tired centre into a vibrant, socially significant and competitive centre offering a range of squash and wellness activities. I’d like to thank everyone who understood the effort and sacrifice that it took.” - Allan N

Naturally this creates some key volunteer vacancies and amendments to some of the governance activities.

With that in mind we will be releasing information about the changes and will be asking people in the playing group to step up and contribute to keeping this centre growing and succeeding either as a Board member and / or volunteer

Pictured is the latest bulky item to be dumped around the back of Dora Creek Hall.

If you recognize it or know who may have dumped it, please advise them that it’s never acceptable to dump unwanted items at Dora Creek Hall.

Previously, a full (worn out) leather lounge suite was dumped around the back of Dora Creek Hall.

Those who dump such bulky items, would have to be fit enough to climb our fence and lift the items over the fence.

We do not knowingly accept such bulky items as we don’t have the resources or storage area to manage bulky items.

Currently there are a small number of dedicated volunteers, mainly elderly people aged in their 70s and 80s with the usual knee, back and shoulder disabilities that seem to come with the aging process.

When the Hall is used as a dump, those volunteers bear the costs of getting rid of these items.

Dora Creek Hall has been owned by this community since 1918.

Over the past 108 years there have been many people who’ve volunteered their time and expertise to ensure that the organisation, Dora Creek School of Arts Inc. is financially sound and that the Hall itself is in good condition for use by the community.

It’s disappointing to see that there are people in the community who take advantage of the organisation by dumping their unwanted bulky items for the organisation to bear the cost of disposal.
