Innovation through Integration

We're proud to spotlight a powerful collaboration between our JVA electric fencing partner Instarect (Kenya) and Rhino Ark—a groundbreaking step forward in promoting human-wildlife coexistence.

Together, they’ve developed the Virtual Elephant Grid, a smart solution powered by JVA Electric Fence technology. When an elephant is detected at a specific height on an access path of the forest grounds, a visual and audio deterrent is triggered, monitored, and controlled via the JVA Wi-Fi App—helping prevent elephants from straying into human settlements outside of the safe forest boundaries.

But innovation doesn’t stop there.

A key challenge? Trucks using the same access paths also exceed the set detection height. To solve this, the system integrates with a Dahua ANPR camera, enabling license plate recognition and a second layer of verification—reducing vehicle alarms and ensuring only elephants are detected and deterred when using these access paths.

This smart integration ensures elephants remain safely within forest boundaries while protecting nearby communities—supporting both conservation and human safety.

A brilliant example of how technology, collaboration, and innovation can protect wildlife and people alike.
