🎉 HAPPY RETIREMENT, ANGE! 🎉

On Wednesday, we celebrated one very special lady as she hung up her (very fresh, new) Brookies shirt and officially headed off into retirement! 🥹💚

Ange has been such a familiar face behind the counter (both here and in Dayboro in general), always ready for a chat, a laugh, some advice, and to help you find whatever it was you came wandering in for!

We’re going to miss having her here enormously, but we’re also SO excited for everything waiting for her on the other side of that counter. More time for horses, dogs, family, motorbikes, travelling, adventures, and doing exactly what she feels like doing! 🐴🏍️🌿

Thank you, Ange, for everything you’ve brought to our shop and to the Dayboro community. 💚

We hope retirement brings you long mornings, big adventures, muddy boots, plenty of horse hair and absolutely no alarm clocks! 😂

Dear Dayboro customers,

As many of you may have already heard, Dayboro Produce and Hardware has been sold to Brookies Rural Traders with the changeover taking place on Wednesday 15 July.

This was not an easy decision for the Beerwah Co-Op. Our main Beerwah site, which has been our home for almost 90 years, is being resumed as part of the Queensland Government's Brisbane to Nambour (B2N) rail duplication and WAVE infrastructure projects.

As a result, unless we can secure a suitable new site in the Beerwah area, our Beerwah business will cease operating when our current lease ends in June 2027. While we remain committed to finding a new home for the Co-op and are actively working towards that goal, no final location has yet been secured.

This uncertainty created a difficult situation for our Dayboro business.

Dayboro Produce & Hardware relies on the Beerwah Co-op for many of its administration and support functions. With the Dayboro lease due for renewal this December, we had to consider whether it would be responsible to commit to another commercial lease while the future of the Co-op itself remained uncertain.

Had we chosen not to renew the lease, Dayboro would have lost a thriving rural and hardware business, and 13 valued team members would have lost their jobs.

Instead, we believed the best outcome for everyone was to sell the business to an organisation that could continue operating it for the benefit of the local community.

We are delighted that Brookies Rural has stepped forward to do exactly that. With several successful rural stores across South East Queensland, they have the experience, resources and commitment to continue serving Dayboro well into the future.

While we are naturally sad to be leaving Dayboro after taking on the business during the uncertainty of the COVID years, we leave knowing the store will continue to serve the community under new ownership rather than face the possibility of closure.

To our wonderful Dayboro team, our loyal customers and the wider community, thank you for your incredible support over the past several years. It has been a privilege to be part of the Dayboro community.

We wish Brookies Rural every success and know they will continue providing the quality products and friendly service that Dayboro deserves.
