Meeting airflow requirements is only part of the job... The moisture being extracted also needs a clear path outdoors!

Under NCC 2025 10.8.2(2), exhaust from a kitchen, kitchen range hood, bathroom, sanitary compartment or laundry must discharge to outdoor air, either directly or through a shaft or duct.

⚠️Plan the discharge point early to keep moisture from becoming trapped in enclosed spaces and help avoid installation changes later.

More options for your next ducted ventilation job!!

The Rapid Response Grille to Duct Connector allows our modern 8″ or 10″ Rapid Response grilles to be used with different types of 150mm ducted fan systems, including inline, roof mounted and external wall mounted fans.

**Does your bathroom exhaust fan need a run-on timer?**

Under the NCC 2025 ABCB Housing Provisions 10.6.2(a), natural ventilation can be provided by openings, windows, doors or other devices which can be opened.

The ventilating area must not be less than 5% of the floor area of the room required to be ventilated.

For a window, the ventilating area is based on the dimensions of the openable sash, not the overall window frame or any fixed glass sections.

This check is important when determining whether the run-on timer provisions under 10.8.2(4) are triggered.

👉🏼 IMPORTANT PRO TIP:
Where the window opening is restricted or unlikely to be opened, consider a permanent air path such as a suitable door undercut or transfer-air opening. The complete system must still achieve the required installed airflow.

One of the most common reasons exhaust systems underperform is insufficient replacement air. Put simply, if air is being exhausted from a room, replacement air also needs to enter. 💯

✅Door undercuts, transfer-air openings and mechanical ventilation can help provide a permanent air path where required.
