FLYSTRIKE RISK INCREASING

With rainfall expected across the region this weekend, conditions are shaping up to be ideal for fly activity.

The combination of moisture, warmer temperatures and humidity can see fly numbers build quickly — and this could be the weather event that really kicks fly pressure into gear for the season!

We can expect strike risk to increase rapidly into early next week, particularly in susceptible mobs.

If you haven’t already got protection on your sheep, now is the time to act. Once conditions turn favourable, fly pressure can ramp up very quickly — don’t wait until you’re seeing strikes.

✔️ Check high-risk mobs
✔️ Get preventative treatments on now
✔️ Keep a close eye on sheep following the rain

We’re heading into the high-risk part of the season — staying ahead of the flies now can save a lot of trouble later.

The soil temperature is warming up — and that means flies are starting to emerge and numbers are beginning to build.

Flies emerge from the soil once the soil temperature reaches 15 degrees or above - and looking at today's results, it isn't far away!

We are reminding producers that now is the time to start thinking about flystrike prevention. Don’t wait until you’re seeing struck sheep to make a plan. Getting ahead of the flies now can make all the difference.

⚠️ BLOAT ALERT ⚠️

Our resident Animal Production Advisor, Em, has been out in the paddock and the clover is bouncing away! 🌱☘️

While it’s great to see paddocks looking this good, it also means the bloat risk is rising — and we’re already seeing cases starting to occur.

When it comes to bloat, prevention is far better than treatment. Getting a management plan in place before stock start showing signs can make all the difference.

Whether it’s assessing your paddock risk and grazing management, or roughage, bloat oils, licks and blocks or other preventative options, we can help you work out what suits your livestock and your system.

A fantastic day spent at the 2026 Coota Park Blue-E Field Day! 👏🐂

It was a full day of learning, networking and great conversations, with an excellent lineup of speakers covering everything from pasture utilisation, virtual fencing and genetic gain, through to the future of Coota Park Blue-E, Angus 50, and the importance of mental wellbeing in agriculture.

Thank you to some our valued suppliers for attending the day with us: Aden from Livestock Solutions With Zoetis, Tim from Rod's Livestock Nutrition, Andrew from Conron Stockcrete, Alice from Elanco Farm Animal AU, Laura from Virbac Australia Primary Producer and Joel from Coopers Animal Health Australia.

It was great to hear from Richard Parkes (Central Tablelands Local Land Services), James Knight (The Sisters Pastoral), Lauren Vest (Coota Park Blue-E), Gordon Refshauge (SheepMetriX), Kylie Jeffery (Rural Adversity Mental Health Program - RAMHP) and Tim King (Belvedere Livestock) who shared their knowledge and insights with everyone who attended.

A special thank you to Jon, Lauren and the entire Coota Park Blue-E team for your warm hospitality and for putting together such a well-organised and informative event. Days like these are invaluable for bringing producers together, sharing ideas and continuing to strengthen our beef industry.
