A huge shoutout to our newest members currently undertaking their recruit training course 👏🚒

These members have already shown incredible commitment, teamwork and dedication to learning the skills needed to serve and protect our community. From long training nights to hands-on practical scenarios, they’ve been putting in the hard work every step of the way.

We’re proud to see them progressing through their training and know they will be such a valuable asset to our brigade for many years to come.

🚨 Community Notice – CFA Training Exercise 🚨

Residents may notice emergency service activity in the area of the “Old Fire Station” and SES building on Tuesday 2nd June from approximately 7:00pm.

Members of Phillip Island CFA will be conducting a planned training exercise as part of our ongoing skills development and operational readiness program.
During this time, you may see fire trucks, firefighters in protective clothing, hoses, lighting, and simulated emergency response activities.

There is no cause for concern, as this is a scheduled training event designed to help our volunteers maintain and strengthen the skills needed to respond to emergencies within our community.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue training to keep Phillip Island safe.

Before winter settles in, take a moment to check one of the most important safety devices in your home, your smoke alarms.

🔥 Monday 1st June is Smoke Alarm Action Day 🔥

Smoke alarms provide an early warning when every second matters. Modern homes can fill with smoke incredibly quickly during a fire, making working smoke alarms essential for protecting you and your family.

Now is the perfect time to:

✅ Test all smoke alarms in your home
✅ Check smoke alarms are installed in bedrooms, hallways and living areas
✅ Replace batteries if required
✅ Replace smoke alarms that are more than 10 years old
✅ Review and practise your home fire escape plan

Many serious house fires start in sleeping areas, and if a fire occurs overnight, a working smoke alarm can provide the critical time needed to escape safely.

As the colder weather arrives, remember to:
🔥 Keep heaters at least one metre away from furniture, bedding and curtains
🕯️ Never leave candles unattended
🍳 Stay in the kitchen while cooking

A few minutes spent checking your smoke alarms today could make all the difference tomorrow.

🚒 From all of us at Phillip Island CFA, stay safe this winter and make sure your smoke alarms are ready when you need them most.

Phillip Island Fire Brigade has been fortunate enough to conduct training with the CFA mobile training prop.
This has given our members an opportunity to train under supervision in different fire scenarios, other benefits include:

🔥Improved safety: Prop training allows our members to assess risks, implement safety protocols, and respond to emergencies in a safe and efficient manner.

🔥Increased efficiency: our members can quickly and effectively extinguish fires, minimising property damage and reducing the risk of injuries.

🔥Professional development: Prop training offers opportunities to our members to enhance their skills.

A huge thank you to Bass Coast Shire Council for their generous grant, which has allowed us to purchase a new training manikin for our brigade.

This equipment will play an important role in Fire Medical Response and brigade training, helping our members continue to build and maintain the skills needed to support and protect our community.

We greatly appreciate the ongoing support provided to local emergency services and the positive impact these grants have on volunteer brigades like ours. 🚒

Today is Wear Orange Wednesday, a day to celebrate and thank our wonderful Victoria State Emergency Service colleagues for all they do.

SES plays a critical role in emergency response, often responding alongside our CFA crews to protect Victorians.

Thank you SES! 🧡⛑️
