Vibrating Screen Drives

For more than 30 years Leverlink has been manufacturing stored energy motor bases for vibrating screens in Australia. The range varies from 5kW to 110kW.

The Leverlink motor base will increase the life of the V-Belts, and drive and driven pulleys. The reduction in maintenance costs compared with slide rails or other similar methods is normally a minimum of 50% as proven throughout the past 30 years.

Leverlinks engineers will design, build and supply all types of Motor Support Structures (MSS) for all types of vibrating screens and applications.

Leverlink Engineering Team

This week, the Leverlink engineering team has successfully designed and installed a HA-309 motor base to a Krebs 12/10 pump at a mining operation in NSW.

This installation will significantly reduce the maintenance costs on site for the following reasons- reduced labour costs when fitting new belts or change out of old belts by up to 70%, increased life of the pulleys and belts by double when mounted on jacking bolts or slide rails providing the correct belt tensioning is maintained as recommended by the belt OEM. This information comes from historical records.

The Complete Package

For many years now, Leverlink has been supplying the complete pump package to the mining industry allowing them to do quick change outs on pump base frames, guarding and associated equipment. The one stop/package arrangement designed by Leverlink allows for quick turnaround and changeouts.

If you do not understand the problem, you cannot engineer the solution

That line sums up why Leverlink’s Dynamic Impact Bed exists in the first place.

In the early 1990s, Leverlink founder Richard Sharp developed the first Dynamic Impact Beds for troughed conveyor belts in Australia. At the time, it wasn’t possible to confirm if it was also the first in the world. Later research suggested it may have been. Either way, the breakthrough was real: a new type of load zone impact bed built for serious production conditions.

Richard also coined the phrase “Dynamic Impact Bed” to describe this new class of conveyor load-zone equipment.

From the beginning, Leverlink’s Dynamic Impact Beds were designed to be a long-term solution, not a quick fix.

Reducing Maintenance Costs and Increasing Plant Availability

It is not unusual for Leverlink H series motor bases to double the life of the drive belts and reduce wear in both the drive and driven pulleys.

The Leverlink H series motor base has been designed for crusher drives in excess of 1000kW.

The rubber torsional spring technology which stores energy, compensates for belt stretch and wear automatically.

Maintenance Costs Can Be Reduced

Crusher drives often require high kW electric motors to suit the application, particularly on jaw and gyratory crushers.

Leverlink HA and HAX models are designed for such purposes and can be delivered to any site around the world.

The HAX models type RTS (Rubber Torsional Spring) stored energy motor bases, will reduce maintenance costs by upholding the correct operating forces to maintain the correct belt tension as recommended by the belt OEM.

The simple, one touch mechanical tensioning screw reduces belt tensioning or belt change out time by up to 80% when using conventional slide rails or jacking bolts.

Leverlink Motor Bases will reduce your operating costs

Mid 1995, one of our representatives was on site at a large mining operation where we have over 60 installations of our motor bases.

The maintenance super intendent asked our representative “how do you make money selling these motor bases as they never wear out?”. Clearly, they do wear out, and we would expect the units to be returned for refurbish rebuilds in approximately 10-15 years from original installation.

The belt and pulley life is usually double that of a pump mounted on slide rails or jacking bolts. Many mine operators go to extraordinary lengths trying to protect the integrity of the threads, applying various tapes and other expensive solutions (labor costs) to achieve what Leverlink motor bases have been designed to do.

In most instances, the belt change out or re-tensioning is only 20% of the labor time when compared with jacking bolts or slide rails.

Leverlink H-Series Motor Bases – Designed for SAFETY-Long service life and Increased Plant Availability

Founder of Leverlink, Richard Sharp, invented the Leverlink H-Series duel RTS (Rubber Torsion Spring) for one reason only, SAFETY.
It all came about more than 20 years ago, when installing a single pivot, D355 frame motor base in a steel works. Then we were using single pivots from the smallest electric motors up to D355 frame motors with a motor mass often over 3000kg when pulleys are included.

During installation, the electric motor rocked over the centre of gravity rotating around the rubber torsion spring, travelling approximately 75mm. It was so quick and quite unnerving. It could have resulted in a serious accident. It was the moment the Leverlink H-Series motor Base was conceived, and the decision was made to no loner place heavy electric motors on single pivots although it was the most inexpensive design. Safety comes first.

The stable and safe platform, which was designed to minimize risks and hazards during installation, belt changeouts and tensioning has proven to be the choice of safety orientated mine operators. Once again, safety comes first.

The Gold Standard in Motor Bases

Leverlink proudly stands as Australia’s top manufacturer of type RTS stored energy motor bases (also known as self-tensioning, tensioning, or auto-tensioning motor bases). Our adjustable motor base plates cater to both electric and combustion motors, offering versatility for diverse applications.

At the core of these bases lies a rubber torsional spring. This innovative component provides consistent force, automatically compensating for belt stretch and wear. The intelligent mechanical design facilitates quick belt installation and replacement, requiring only a single adjusting screw. This translates to enhanced safety and minimised risk of injury.

Conveyor Load Zones – The Best Long-Term Solution

Leverlink has been designing and manufacturing Dynamic Impact Beds for conveyor load zones for more than 30 years. The product is renowned for its long service life, ability to dissipate kinetic energy, and a warranty of 10 years which is second to none in the mining industry.

All our Dynamic Impact Beds are designed from site functional specifications according to a specific load zone or transfer point, or possibly beneath a jaw or gyratory crusher.

Leverlink designed and continues to manufacture for all our DIB (dynamic Impact Beds) our own proprietary impact mounts type RTS, series 50/89.

We export overseas to various mine sites.

Conveyor load zones- Apples for Apples (like for like evaluation)

Richard Sharp, founder of Leverlink, designed and developed the first Dynamic Impact Beds for conveyor load zones more than 30 years ago.

Many companies have copied the concept, and in most cases have focused on producing a unit at a lower cost but often don’t disclose that the engineering standard has been reduced to match the lower price.

The supplier is encouraged to get at least two quotations so they can compare on an apples for apples (like for like evaluation), to conclude the best value for money is being obtained.
