AWMA Water Control Solutions is looking for multiple Casual Trades Assistants to join our team in Cohuna to support a busy period.
We're looking for people who are:
• Reliable and hardworking
• Able to work under direction
• Physically fit and capable of lifting up 23kg+
• Able to work in a physically demanding role
• Able to stand and work on their feet for extended periods
• Able to safely use hand and power tools
• Willing to learn and work as part of a team
Previous workshop or manufacturing experience is an advantage, but not essential. If you're interested, we'd love to hear from you!

🔥 Safety First at AWMA

The AWMA team recently took part in a fire drill, as part of our ongoing commitment to workplace safety and emergency preparedness.

The training provided a valuable opportunity to refresh our knowledge, understand what to do in an emergency, and practise our response as a team.

As a proud supporter of our local Fire Rescue Brigade, the event was also used as a training opportunity for the local CFA to assist in their understanding of our facility and the location of equipment etc.

Being prepared can make all the difference. A big thank you to everyone who participated and helped make safety a priority. 👏

Behind reliable water extraction is infrastructure designed to protect both water supply and aquatic ecosystems.

AWMA's Automated Cone Screens are a proven fish and debris exclusion solution, particularly suited to shallow intakes, low water level applications and diversion pools. The cone-shaped design provides a large screening surface area within a compact footprint, helping minimise approach velocities while reducing the risk of fish entrainment and impingement.

Featuring an automated external brush cleaning system, the screens are designed to operate continuously in challenging conditions, managing debris, sedimentation and biofouling with minimal maintenance requirements. Available in standard and custom configurations, the systems can be supplied with a variety of operating systems as well as integrated monitoring and control functionality.

Pictured here during final fit-out and testing, these fish-friendly screening systems demonstrate how modern intake infrastructure can support reliable water extraction while protecting native fish populations and downstream assets.

🏆 Quality Committee Recognition

We recently held our Quality Committee Meeting, where two team members were recognised for their commitment to quality, attention to detail and going above and beyond in their roles.

👏 Congratulations Lachie!

Lachie demonstrated exceptional efficiency and skill while completing two identical non-standard passive tilting flood barriers within a very short timeframe. He proactively identified and resolved potential issues during the fit-out stage, helping ensure the process ran smoothly from start to finish.

His attention to detail and quality workmanship were particularly evident in delivering a high-quality result.

👏 Congratulations Zdravko!

Zdravko was recognised for his thorough and proactive approach to redesigning product assembly to address a predicted issue before the product was released.

He conducted extensive research into the best design approach, worked closely with the supplier to communicate the critical manufacturing requirements and developed a comprehensive testing procedure to ensure the completed product met the required standard before leaving AWMA.

While this may simply sound like doing the job, it’s a great example of doing it to the best of your ability and to a very high standard.

The Quality Committee agreed that both nominations were exceptional and decided to recognise both Lachie and Zdravko for their contributions.

Congratulations to you both and thank you for demonstrating what quality, ownership and attention to detail look like in practice! 👏

👏 Tiffy – Congratulations and thank you for 20 Years!

Twenty years is an incredible milestone. Tiffy has been part of the AWMA journey for longer than 300+ people who have passed through our doors.

Tiffy completed a fabrication apprenticeship and went on to become our go-to aluminium specialist for much of his career. For the past two decades, he has played a huge role in manufacturing countless water control gates and flood barriers.

In fact, it’s safe to say Tiffy could hold the title of the person who has made more water control gates than anyone else in Australian history!

Congratulations Tiffy and thank you for the skills, experience, commitment and contribution you’ve brought to AWMA over the years.

Here’s to many more milestones and hopefully plenty more names joining you on the honour boards in the years ahead! 👏
