We know the presentations were great… but let’s be honest, the real highlight of the IPWEA Conference last month might have been our BK. handout in the delegate bags 👀

Too good not to share.

A big thanks to everyone who stopped by for a chat during the conference - it’s always great connecting with others across the industry and local government sector.

Did you know Australia has an entire week dedicated to archaeology?

Do you think that it is an obscure career, limited to people who work in museums? Are Indiana Jones and Bandit Heeler the only archaeologists you know? National Archaeology Week aims to increase public awareness of Australian archaeology and the work of Australian archaeologists both at home and abroad, and to promote the importance of protecting Australia’s unique archaeological heritage.

Our Environmental Solutions Manager Claire Everett is an archaeologist, but she doesn’t dig digging. Claire’s career in archaeology has led her to many interesting places and enabled her to discover her true passion; the management of heritage infrastructure, in particular heritage bridges. Claire loves researching the history of our wonderful road and bridge heritage in Australia and enjoys working with asset managers to develop strategies to maintain the heritage significance of our unique heritage bridges whilst keeping them in use as important transport assets.

A great project milestone reached 👏

BK. is proud to see Paddys Flat Road bridge replacement within Kyogle LGA now complete.

Originally developed to replace aging timber structures impacted by deterioration and flood damage, the new bridge has been delivered as a single-lane configuration with provision for future widening to suit increased demand.

The design prioritised structural capacity, durability, and improved flood resilience — supporting a safer and more reliable connection for the local community.

It’s always rewarding to see our designs come to life on the ground.

🎉 Celebrating 5 Years with Craig Riley!

This week we’re celebrating Craig Riley, our Civil and Structures Manager, marking 5 years with us. To mark the occasion, we asked Craig a few questions about his time with us:

Q: What’s your favourite part about working at BK.?
A: “Being part of a talented team and helping deliver projects that make a real difference in our regional communities.”

Q: What has been a highlight of your 5 years?
A: “Seeing complex bridge and civil projects come to life. From the initial concept through to completion and knowing our work makes roads and bridges safer.”

Q: Any advice for new team members?
A: “Be curious, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to get hands-on. There’s so much to learn, and the team is here to support you.”

Thank you, Craig, for your dedication, expertise, and leadership over the past five years. We’re lucky to have you on the team! 👏

📣 Project Update - Molesworth St Bridge (Tenterfield)

BK. has prepared the demolition plan for the Molesworth St Bridge in Tenterfield for Transport for NSW as part of the broader project to replace the existing timber structure with a stronger, safer and more resilient concrete bridge.

The current bridge is vulnerable to natural disasters and flooding, leading to regular disruptions for the local community. This replacement project is funded under the Regional Roads and Transport Recovery Package and aims to improve flood resilience and maintain vital road access for residents, services and emergency routes.

Our team is proud to support Transport for NSW with safe, practical and efficient demolition planning, helping ensure infrastructure upgrades are delivered with confidence.
