Halfway through firewood season is when your saw is likely to start asking for attention.

Three checks before the next load:

1️⃣ Chips, not dust. If you're leaning on the bar and getting powder, the chain's blunt. Sharpen it or swap it before it cooks the bar.

2️⃣ Flip the bar while the chain's off; they wear faster along the bottom edge. Clear the oiler hole while you're there, because a dry bar eats chains.

3️⃣ Then the air filter. Winter cutting is dusty work, and a choked filter leaves the saw down on power.

Done all three and it's still not right? Bring it in.

CHBS runs a fortnightly delivery to both towns. Honda, Husqvarna, bearings, hydraulics, hoses, fittings, filters, and the full range we stock in Clermont. If we stock it, we'll truck it up.

Chantelle from JNC Rural Contractors is one of our regulars. Half her visits are for gear; the other half are for a yarn, and we're happy with the split.

Chantelle's latest upgrade is a Cox CPV2000 Pressure Washer. 2000 PSI, 149cc petrol engine, recoil start, $399 including GST. No powerpoint needed, which matters when the job is nowhere near one.

Firewood season's here, and splitting a winter's worth of wood by hand gets old fast.

The Cox 14 Ton Log Splitter does the work for you. Fourteen tonnes of force off a Briggs and Stratton CR950 208cc engine, enough to get through the hard, knotty stuff that bends a maul.

The splitter comes pre-filled with hydraulic oil, so it works straight off the bat with no mucking around. Built for domestic firewood, which around here is most of a season sorted in an afternoon.
