Out with the old, in with the new. 😲

The Encoder Display we have been using for the past 4.5 years, the ED3 has been superseded and replaced the new ED4.
This display is vastly different in a number of ways, all of which I believe will be more user friendly. So,

1) It is only programmable via connection to a PC and using dedicated hardware. This means that it is now impossible for the end user to accidentally get into the programming settings and bu**er things up. Also, now that I have got the programming saved in a file, I simply plug the encoder into my computer and with 4 clicks of my mouse the display is programmed.
2) End user can control switch it on and off, adjusting the display brightness and of course re-set your 0.00 degree setting to calibrate it with the machine.
3) It has options for 2 encoder inputs (only 1 will be displayed at this stage). This gives us options to add an additional encoder on the machine down the track. Maybe a lap speed indicator or visual index display on your screen. As well as 2 audible alarms. Watch this space.

I will be updating a section in the user manual in the coming weeks as well as including a cheat sheet with each machine sent out to assist with calibration.

We will be at The Bundy Gem Show this coming weekend. Plenty of laps, lap protectors, Faceting wax, glue, polish, cut gems and some new 100% Australian made silver jewellery crafted by my wife Kerry, plus lots more.

Here it is again

Keep an eye out for the bloody scammers. I built this machine for a gentleman in a retirement home and only just last week sold him some more dops.

There are also a lot of scams going around on Facebook marketplace place and Ebay. You may see a listing for John Broardfoot’s gem cutting for beginners book that we also sell on the web. It’s on Ebay for $39.00 plus postage and I recently received an order for said book. After a tip off from Brian Boyle at Gemcuts, I identified it as a scam and issued a refund to the stolen credit card used to purchase it and I also never send the book out. I tracked down the poor gentleman who thought he had purchased it legitimately through ebay and he is now going through ebay to get his money back.
