LITHIUM BATTERIES - Recycling Experiment.

I'm getting more and more calls lately from people asking how to recycle their Lithium batteries.

Did you know it's almost impossible to recycle Lithium batteries in Darwin. All the major Metal Recyclers don't accept them.

It seems that most toxic old Lithium batteries end up in Darwin's landfill.

Some places have "token" drop off bins where you leave small quantities such as mobile phone batteries etc.
These are then shipped down South where they are mostly just incinerated.

There is really nowhere to recycle most Lithium batteries such as old power tool batteries, power packs, jump starters etc.

I have tried repairing these but by the time you add up the cost of labour & parts, it's cheaper to just buy a new one.

Revive Batteries is now going to accept Lithium batteries for recycling and re-purposing (excluding mobile phone / ni-cad & Nimh)

This is an experiment at this stage to see how much interest I get and also to find ways to keep these batteries out of landfill.

So drop off all your dead Lithiums at Revive Batteries or give me a call if you have large quantities for pick up.
