Victorian Precision Service Rifle - Series

Victorian Precision Service Rifle - Series Promote the "Precision Service Rifle"discipline and all things precision rifle related.

The Victorian Precision Service Rifle Series is an exciting teamed precision rifle match originating out of Canberra expanding to NSW and now Victoria. These matches offer competitors the chance to challenge themselves and their equipment through a variety of dynamic shooting conditions and positions. The emphasis is on marksmanship, practical precision and problem solving through a series of time

d applications under greater time pressure then usually found on a full bore range. Shot in 2 details consisting of shooting pairs, competitors work together to help each other out with wind calls, fall of shot, managing gear and any other problems that present themselves throughout the match, with teamwork being a key principle. There are some restrictions on equipment depending on the class you choose to shoot in. With the simple rule being that if you want to use it, you must carry it for the entire course of fire.

Pre Comp Preparation - Wind pt 2

With wind predictions available a few days out from the comp we can see the potential for the mornings detail to have:
SE at 3.8mph building to ESE at 6.2mph
And the afternoon having:
W at 5.2mph switching to SE at 4.8mph

What wind hold changes could you expect with your system at 400yds?

Pre comp preparation - wind

A week or so out from a competition or field trip getting a feel for what the wind usually does can assist with some mental preparation. Using something like W***y Weather you can get a 5 year average and start to see patterns in wind direction and velocity.

Project progress

A huge thanks to Maxord Precision Rifle Systems for the Alpha Carbide 25x47 reamer (I went with 0.15” freebore) and the custom_rifle_barrels (CRB) 25 cal Competition barrel. Off to the gunsmith in a weeks time. Will probably run my Chad tuner brake on it initially. Decision time 26” or 28”?

For PSR predominantly and the occasional PRS competition, what length would you settle on?

PSR Competition Course of Fire

Sunday 21st, just two weeks away, is the date for the Vic PSR competition. Serial 4 requires firing from the non-master side (complete mirror image of how you normally shoot), and serial 8 has the competitor standing with all their equipment. On the command they will place the unloaded rifle on the ground, deploy the tripod, fit the rifle and then remove chamber flag and insert a magazine with the barrel pointing at the butts.

As always any questions don’t hesitate to ask.

Please let us know for catering and logistics purposes which class you will be competitive in, if you will be camping overnight and attending the famous BBQ.

Match to be shot in the spirit of the competition.
