Blood solutions for healthcare include machines for blood collection, blood processing, pathogen reduction and blood storage.

This manufacturer asked us to custom-build a kabTRAK electronic tool control cabinet for their manufacturing facility.

The contents: measuring and marking, insulated tools, a wide range of screwdrivers including precision and T-handle drivers, as well as long reach pliers, 1/4in drive ratchets and sockets, and wrenches - all in imperial and metric sizes.

The kabTRAK limits access to authorised users, records all tool movements, tool condition, need for replacement or repair, calibration status, and consumable stock levels.

And it displays the completeness of the kit instantly visible on the large screen, to make sure no tool is left behind.

Sometimes, storage foam doesn’t need to tell you what goes where. It just needs to protect what’s inside.

For this application, there was no need for our usual dual-colour foam.

Instead, we created an all-black storage solution consisting of two layers:
▪️ Main black foam layer - shaped to securely hold and protect the equipment
▪️ Thin, smooth black solid plastic layer - providing a durable, laser-etchable, cleanable surface and additional support

This combination is ideal when the priority is protection, organisation and presentation, rather than visual tool identification.

🔧 FUN FACT: Electronic tool inventory can cut inventory time by up to 85%

In aviation maintenance, tool inventories can happen multiple times throughout a shift: before and after work, following a task, or whenever tools are returned to the work centre.

That means technicians can spend valuable maintenance time manually checking and recording their tool inventory, again and again.

But electronic inventory changes the process.

One published aviation MRO case found that a manual toolbox inventory took around 20 minutes, while an electronic inventory reduced the process to under 3 minutes. An approximately 85% reduction in inventory time.
