Most engineers spend weeks writing their CDR.

Then Engineers Australia rejects it.

Not because their engineering is weak.

Planning to migrate to Australia as an engineer?

One of the most important steps in your PR journey is getting a positive Skills Assessment from Engineers Australia (EA). Without it, you cannot move forward with most skilled migration visa applications under engineering occupations.

Many applicants get confused about where to start, which pathway to choose, and what documents are actually required. The process can feel overwhelming, especially if you are applying from outside Australia.

Here’s a simple breakdown of the EA Skills Assessment process:

1️⃣ Register your account on the Engineers Australia portal
2️⃣ Choose the correct assessment pathway based on your qualification
3️⃣ Enter your personal details and nominated ANZSCO occupation
4️⃣ Upload the required documents for your selected pathway
5️⃣ Pay the fee and submit your application online

Quick warning for anyone using AI tools to write their CDR.

We've reviewed a lot of CDRs this year. The ones written by ChatGPT or similar tools share the same problem and it's not the writing.

Engineers Australia doesn't assess your English.
They assess your competency evidence against Stage 1 Professional Engineer standards.

6 specific elements. Most AI-generated career episodes address zero of them.

What the AI produces: a clear project description.
What EA wants: evidence of engineering judgement, independent decision-making, and professional reflection.

Those are not the same thing.

On top of that EA now uses plagiarism and AI detection as part of their review process.

So you can get rejected for both missing competency evidence AND flagged content.
