Yay me 😬

In all seriousness though this was quite a fun job to problem solve. We went through a few different options to make it work.
We starting by borrowing a router, unfortunately it didn’t quite have enough umph so we re assessed, designed and 3D printed some work holding and made it fit by doing two ops on the X11.

We took some more footage of how we made it work to come.

Out with the old and in with the new!

In case you missed it, one of our first jobs before starting back up this year was to replace our Syil X11s Perspex windows with 8mm laminated glass and cut out the aluminium mesh grid on the front.

We are so happy with how this turned out, it makes the machine almost look new again!

The old windows were so difficult to see through due to coolant crazing and wear and tear from metal chips hitting them over the years. We’re looking forward to being able to see our parts properly again 😂

To complete the recent pipe re sleeve job we had to make an additional extension to our already long 50mm shell mill to reach the depth we needed.
Final measurements came in at: 255mm long from the spindle! 😬

It was quite the moment to call the tool for the first time!
