🏁 SPRINGMOUNT RACEWAY PRESENTS: COME & TRY DRAGS 🏁

Never been down the track at Springmount Raceway? This is your chance to experience drag racing in a safe, controlled and completely pressure-free environment!

Come & Try Drags is designed especially for first-timers. Our experienced drivers and track crew will guide you through the entire process—from signing on and entering the staging lanes to making your first pass and collecting your time slip.

Need some extra confidence? An experienced driver can ride in the passenger seat with you, and you can also take a passenger ride in one of our street cars before getting behind the wheel yourself.

💰 $50 per driver
⏱️ Three-hour on-track session
🚗 Registered cars and bikes only
🔁 Make as many passes as time allows
👥 Share your vehicle with your mates—each driver simply needs their own entry

This activity is only for people who have never raced at Springmount Raceway before.

FRIDAYS - 4:50pm parade, 5pm RACING | SATURDAYS - 4:50pm parade, 5pm RACING | Due to the large racing schedule racing will commence 5pm. Spectator gates open from 3:30pm each event night of THUNDER.

Competitor gates open all day but there will be a call to exit and enter for ticket purposes early arv as per normal.

C A I R N S JUL 31, AUG 1, 7 & 8 | Thunder in the Canefields 2026 will be the biggest and best yet at Walsh's Auto Cairns Speedway with the biggest prizepool ever for sprintcars in Cairns and also Southside Mechanical and Spares Wingless as drivers from all over the nation descend on the Cairns speedbowl to tackle our local hereos!!

Sacchi Contractors now joins the sponsors bringing the total to $62,000 up for grabs over the 4 nights in Cairns plus one big night in Mareeba [Tues 4th Aug only] the stage is set to attract the biggest names vying for the top step of the podium and the biggest bag of cash!!!
