🌿 Sustainable Living: We are proud to have collaborated with our client, who is an HIA Greensmart professional, to incorporate eco-friendly features throughout the house. The lightweight design boasts excellent cross ventilation, insulation, energy-efficient lighting, and a wide range of sustainable finishing materials. 🌱💡

💡 Design Philosophy: Inspired by the traditional 'long house' style found in Pacific islands and South East Asia, the 'Kula House' pays homage to cultural heritage while embracing contemporary aesthetics. The low-set design boasts a simple structural approach, with the main focus on the innovative double skillion roof system. The spacious interior is bathed in natural light and refreshing breezes, eliminating the need for air-conditioning. ☀️💨

🌬️ Embracing the Elements: We believe in designing homes that work harmoniously with the environment. The 'Kula House' features extensive 900mm roof eaves, protecting the walls from the tropical sun. Raised above sand fly level, the house allows for optimal airflow, reducing the risk of flood damage and capturing cool breezes. 🏡🌴🌞 Say hello to this beautiful tropical Queenslander designed by Thirkell Consulting Engineers Cairns! 💻👷‍♂️ This affordable, easily maintained home was created to perform as a robust rental property for families. The appealing two-storey design boasts a wide front verandah that shields the house from the western sun, while extra roof and wall insulation keeps it cool. ☀️🏠 The open plan living area opens out onto a large verandah, perfect for enjoying the beautiful Queensland weather. The main bedroom includes a modern ensuite and walk-in-wardrobe, and there are two other bedrooms with built-ins plus a small office near the main bedroom.

But that's not all! Two beautiful wide timber staircases not only add to the home's appeal but also suit furniture removals. The ground floor is a large open concrete area, perfect for kids and wet weather activities. The laundry and large secure storeroom under the stairs replace the need for a garden shed, and there's even space to park four vehicles secured by roller doors. 🚗🚪

Three x 3 bedroom freehold title houses on 811 sqm.

We're excited to share our latest project! The original house on this site presented a unique challenge as it straddled two land lots. However, through careful planning and design, we were able to secure development and building approval for not just one, but three stunning dwelling houses!

The two lots at the front of the property were transformed into two spacious townhouses, connected by a boundary party wall. Meanwhile, the third lot at the rear of the property was designed as a battle-axe, with an access driveway.

One of the biggest challenges we faced was the complicated existing sewerage line. But our team of skilled engineers and designers came up with an innovative solution - we designed the house at the rear with an angle to distance the footings and allow for easy maintenance.
