A few months ago, I’d well and truly reached my limit collecting discarded helmets around town and reached out directly to Neuron with my concerns. To their credit, they responded quickly and constructively, and I was advised of new measures being rolled out to help improve the situation.

They have now introduced:
✅ Dedicated helmet patrollers to clean up discarded helmets
✅ QR codes on helmets so the public can report them quickly
✅ Fines for users who discard or vandalise helmets, tracked through improved AI
✅ Ongoing rider education, including an upcoming community event

Despite these efforts, helmet vandalism continues (to the tune of up to 400 a month)— it’s not just frustrating, it’s dangerous. Neuron is now working closely with Queensland Police, reviewing CCTV footage and conducting patrols. When offenders are identified, they will be charged.

These e-scooters are used by many in our community as a convenient and sustainable transport option. Let’s not ruin that with reckless behaviour.
