Meet our next speaker: Ania Mikina, co-founder of Zephyr + Stone.

For over twenty years, Ania has watched people pour their savings, hopes and dreams into building and renovating, only to run out of money before they get to the finishes they actually wanted. She's renovated, built and developed property herself, and done it again for hundreds of clients.

That experience became her signature course, home. BY ZEPHYR + STONE: teaching homeowners to stop wasting money on square metres they'll never use, so every room earns its place and there's more left for the finishes that matter.

Every September, Paris and London set the direction the design world follows. The question for the rest of us: what actually works here?

Interior designer Georgina Redenbach, owner of Olive and Pear Design, is joining us on Saturday 24 October for Design Trends from Paris.

Hot on the heels of Maison et Objet, Paris Design Week and the London Design Festival, she'll unpack the standout trends and products from the international shows, which ones suit our climate, our style and our heritage, and how designers translate what's on show in Paris for real Brisbane homes.

Georgina creates eclectic, unfussy interiors built on a simple belief: elegant living in a smaller footprint. She returns to The Build and Design Centre after her popular session on colour psychology in design.

Lighting is usually the last thing planned in a build or renovation, and the first thing people wish they'd done differently. One grid of downlights everywhere. Shadows right over the bench. A living room that feels like an office at night.

Lauren and Chris from JD Lighting are joining us on Saturday 17 October for Lighting Design: one free hour on making lighting a design decision instead of an afterthought. They'll cover mood lighting versus task lighting, choosing the right lumen levels, colour temperature and tri-colour fittings, and the most common lighting mistakes homeowners make, with real before-and-after examples showing what good lighting does to a space.

JD Lighting designs and manufactures custom lighting solutions, from bespoke pendants and custom strip lighting to ceiling fans, bathroom and outdoor lighting, and their range is on display right here at The Build and Design Centre.

Kirsty Duncan spent over 20 years in advertising and marketing before she went back to what she loved: design you can walk into.

She retrained, fell for the hardest room in the house, and built Bearcanvas Interiors around it. Bathrooms are her favourite work for exactly the reason most people dread them: so many trades in one small space, all needing to come together perfectly. Her work has won at the KBDi Designer Awards and the QLD IDA awards.

This Saturday she's at The Build and Design Centre with Bathroom Renovation: one free hour on planning it right, where the challenges hide, where to invest, and the mistakes that catch renovators out.

He's not presenting theory; this is what his team does in South East Queensland homes every week.
