Today, Queensland's Minister for Housing visited an Australian h**p manufacturing facility.

Not a trial. Not a concept. A real factory, producing Australian-made building products. This is exactly why we keep talking about processing and manufacturing.

When governments, manufacturers, growers and builders work together, the whole industry moves forward.

Every new processing facility creates confidence for growers. Every new manufacturing plant creates regional jobs. Every new product gives Australians another reason to choose h**p.

It was a pleasure to welcome Queensland Minister for Housing, Sam O'Connor MP, and Adam Baillie MP, State Member for Townsville, to the HulkBuild manufacturing facility in Townsville.

During the visit, we discussed the future of sustainable building materials and housing in Queensland, showcasing our renewable, Certified Australian Made HulkBuild Boards, manufactured right here in North Queensland.

A key focus of the discussion was the importance of maintaining a local, tightly integrated supply chain. By growing, manufacturing and building as close as possible to where our products are used, we can reduce transport-related CO₂ emissions, strengthen Queensland's advanced manufacturing, improve supply chain resilience, and deliver shorter lead times for builders and homeowners.

Minister O'Connor and Mr Baillie toured our production facility and saw first-hand how our h**p boards are manufactured, along with our prototype h**p home, demonstrating how innovative Australian-grown materials can help deliver practical, sustainable housing solutions.

We appreciate both Minister O'Connor and Mr Baillie taking the time to visit and learn more about what we're building in Townsville. We look forward to continuing the conversation about how local manufacturing, renewable materials and innovative construction can contribute to Queensland's future housing needs.

🌱 From paddock to product in around 100 days

HB HulkBoards are made using industrial h**p — a rapidly renewable crop that grows to harvest in just a few months while naturally capturing carbon from the atmosphere. After harvest, the h**p fibre is processed and engineered into high-performance composite boards manufactured in Townsville, Australia.

By replacing traditional wood fibres with regeneratively grown Australian h**p, HulkBoards help reduce reliance on timber resources while supporting a new generation of bio-based manufacturing materials.
