This was an unplanned little comparison between the generations of V8, a quick little side profile comparison, during a delivery last week. This new V8 has all of the familiar Epic design features, with all the improvements adding up to a fantastic new ski (this particular V8 generation 1 is still going strong 14 years later 💪). Ok, this one is a bit different. Innovation, originality, expertise & excellence are often words thrown around but they pretty much sum up Greg Barton, who leads Epic’s design - of ALL products, from the ground up.

His achievements on the water are known far and wide, not many people can boast two gold Olympic medals, numerous world championships and titles around the world, but off the water many people don’t really get an insight into his knowledge and expertise. To be frank, he isn’t that sort of person to self promote. However, with the core team at Epic who are behind the scenes, Greg has taught me a heck of a lot over the years in the world of boat design. It really is a pleasure to talk to him about it. This is my first attempt to bring it to a wider audience. What do you guys think? Do you want to watch more of Greg’s design knowledge? Over the last few weeks, we have been conducting quite a few demos with the new V8. The feedback has been great. Some paddlers prefer the stability of the super ultra lay up, which is still very light at 11kg, and others ❤️ the lightness and agility of the 8.5kg super elite. Last one from our recent Brisbane leg of the Qld trip. Was a great delivery as we all paddled together after and it was a great arvo & sunset on the Bay. Looking forward to heading up again later in the month. Thanks again to the Cleveland club 🤙
