Most people ring us and ask for tree lopping. What they usually want is exactly this: the limbs hanging over the house, the shed or the outdoor area taken off, and the rest of the tree left standing and healthy. This gum was growing over a deck and a water tank on a bush block, so every cut was roped and lowered instead of dropped. It took most of the morning. Dropping it would have been quicker and a lot more expensive for the owner. This photo was taken from the basket, looking straight down at the job. Working off the lift means every limb gets cut and lowered exactly where we want it, instead of dropping it and hoping for the best. By the time we packed up, the branches were raked, the cart was emptied and there was nothing left on the lawn but a couple of tyre marks. Builders don't want to hear "we'll get there when we can". On this Eaglehawk site the fencing went up, the trees came down and were chipped on the spot, and the ground was left flat and clean for the slab crew. There's a big difference between lopping a tree and pruning it. Lopping leaves stubs that rot and sprout weak regrowth. Pruning means climbing up, picking the right branches and cutting back to a healthy point, so the tree heals and stays strong.
