A couple of familiar faces meeting up in the Northern Territory. 🇦🇺

The Waking up in Aus F-550 and American Trucks Australia RAM 5500 - two huge American truck builds that have both been through the EC Offroad workshop, now out doing exactly what they were built to do.

It’s always good seeing our builds out of the workshop and travelling Australia, but seeing these two rigs meet up in the NT is something else. Serious trucks, serious touring setups and a whole lot of road between them and home. 🔥

This one stopped us mid-walk at the show. A Black Edition build from the EOG crew.

Super singles underneath, a front bar covered in Baja Designs lighting, and a US-made Host camper on the back. All up it's sitting at 16,000 pounds (over 7 tonne) and still has a few tonne of payload. The owners are driving it to Moab straight after the show.

We currently carry a focused range of roof racks in-house, with several new platforms and accessories in development. Our new Chevrolet 2500 platform can be fitted with STEDI 7.5-inch touch lights along the sides and a 50-inch light bar across the front, providing excellent lighting around the vehicle and down the track. The platform has also been developed with future accessories in mind. New attachments are coming for products such as Starlink Mini, Maxtrax and other touring equipment, allowing customers to expand the setup cleanly over time. We’ve also revised our Super Duty roof rack to suit vehicles ranging from the F-250 through to the F-550. Options are also available for RAM trucks and the Y62 Patrol. We’re back from the USA and already getting stuck into two new LiquidSpring installations. The tubs have been removed, the chassis sections have been prepared and painted and both trucks are ready for the systems to be installed. We spent the day with our partners at Buckstop Truckware in the US, the home of the super single wheels we fit back in Australia.

The MPT bead runs a 41 inch tyre rated at 3.35 tonne per rim, which is where the huge GVM numbers come from. And there's now an LT bead option: it lowers your GVM but opens up normal LT truck tyres, a smart pick for trucks running without a canopy.

The Buckstop crew had been out wheeling these trucks all week, testing suspension, wheel and tyre combos. Nothing we've come across matches them on payload and GVM.

Another Y62 Patrol receiving the suspension upgrades it needs to carry and tow with confidence. With the rear end stripped down, upgraded coils and an Airbag Man load-support system are being installed to help maintain ride height, improve stability and keep the vehicle level when loaded. These are the upgrades that make a real difference once the touring gear, passengers or trailer are added. Properly selected, professionally installed and set up for how the vehicle will actually be used.

This Chev 2500 has received the full treatment from our team and our friends at Offroad Creative, turning it into a seriously capable and unmistakable touring rig.

With a Baja Designs 8XL Linkable Roof Kit, LP6 Pro and LP9 Pro LED light pods, a 30-inch S8 Straight LED Light Bar in the front bumper and Squadron lights positioned on either side.

Underneath, the truck is protected by a BDS Suspension heavy-duty differential skid plate and supported by Fox 2.5 Performance Elite remote reservoir shocks with DSC adjusters. Method 305 HD NV wheels in matte black are wrapped in Toyo Open Country M/T mud-terrain tyres, giving the truck the stance and traction to match its size.

A Carbon winch is integrated into the front bar for recovery duties. The build is completed with an Offroad Creative tray and canopy system and Bushwakka accessories, creating a setup that is practical, properly equipped and ready for serious travel.

There’s the polished video you see online… and then there’s everything that happens while we’re trying to film it. 😂 Leo had distractions coming from every direction, a few words that refused to cooperate and some poses he’ll probably never live down. Someone has to do the hard work around here!
