In 2019 Robbie Skidmore took the reins over from his father Rodney Skidmore, Robbie’s goal is to create a quality product whilst using local labour and stay Aussie made. His employees are part of the family and likes to treat his customers the same. Robbie has seen the high and lows of the industry from being involved in tag a long as soon as he could walk. As a toddler he would get his Father Rodney to make him small trailers to go behind his pedal tractor, his favorite was road trains where he had at least 3 trailers fulling loaded with toys and things he could find lying around the yard. Then then upgraded to his quad bike and the trailers got bigger and the number got larger. Now he also participates in vintage tractor pulling with his favorite tractor his Oliver Brown or he needs more grunt he uses the six cylinder Fordson. Robbie also helps out where he can from helping mates with harvest (when he’s not in the shed) and participating in hay runs to help people in need. When he’s not helping his mates and community, he is away tinkering in the shed, 4 wheel driving or teach his one year old nephew all about the family business.

He built his first trailer for his motorbike at the age of 11, and painted it the brightest green color he could find. From there it just kept going, bigger and better. Robbie has a great liking for “bling up” his trucks and trailers and can do this for his customers at their request. The more stainless and lights the better. Tag A Long can offers on our trailers scroll decals, stainless surrounds on tie down bars and extra lights if it is the customers wish, so you can have a trailer that stands out as much as the truck that you take so very much pride in.

In 1985, in a shed out the back of Bakery at 91 Bakers Road, Coburg North the first of the Tag A long designed trailer was built. It was sketched out of the concrete floor by Rod Skidmore and his long time friend to suit a new JCB machine that had been purchased. This trailer was the first of its kind, it had no suspension and a second-hand axle but did the job well. From this trailer, the Tag A Long name grew into the company we know today.

Here at Tag A Long Trailers we run a small team, but we all work together to make sure that you get the best product possible. We understand that in today’s day and age workmanship and pride is sometimes not shown in one’s product, but at Tag A Long we are different, we take pride in our work and make sure that it meets all expectations and more. And if something unforeseen should happen we offer 12 months warranty on our work and are always willing to troubleshoot any little problems that could arise. As we strive for the best after sales service we can give.
