A couple of caravan upgrades through the Rossco workshop. 🔧

Rossco recently fabricated custom battery boxes for two caravan setups, built to suit the available space and keep the new battery systems securely mounted underneath the vans.

One of the jobs also gives a good before-and-after comparison — replacing the more exposed setup with a purpose-built enclosure that integrates neatly with the caravan.

It’s the sort of job where the fabrication has to work around what’s already there, from chassis and suspension components to access and mounting points.

A good finish starts well before the final coat goes on.

A couple of recent jobs through the Rossco workshop, showing what proper surface preparation and coating can do.

One piece was finished in LandCruiser Silver, giving the bar work a clean, durable new finish.

The roof rack had a more complete refresh — blasted back, zinc coated and finished with a Satin Black top coat for added protection and a sharp result.

Whether it’s new fabrication or giving existing steelwork another life, the preparation underneath matters just as much as the colour on top.

From the workshop to the finished install. 🔧

A new security gate for Darley Football Netball Club, fabricated to suit the Club’s new building and finished in black to tie in neatly with the exterior.

The first shots show the gate taking shape before finishing, followed by the completed gate installed over the entry — a simple, robust solution providing added security for the facility.

You might recognise the building from a recent post by Customline Blinds & Doors, who installed the roller shutters on the same project a couple of weeks ago. Another local job coming together with practical solutions from local businesses.

A big screen for a major club upgrade at Ocean Grove Memorial Reserve. 👏

Rossco fabricated this large security screen for the changeroom upgrade at Ocean Grove Memorial Reserve, working for Three T Construction Group as part of the redevelopment of the existing pavilion.

The finished project delivers new home and away changerooms, upgraded amenities and improved accessible facilities — with Rossco’s screen forming part of the secure external finish.

The workshop shots show the scale of the job before it left Rossco, followed by the finished installation on site at Ocean Grove.

Always good to see something that starts on the workshop floor become part of a finished community facility.

Going gangbusters — but why?

When a business suddenly gets busy, everyone wants to know which bit of the marketing is working.

The trouble is, customers rarely behave in a nice straight line.

Someone might:
see a Facebook post → hear your name from a friend → Google you → read your website → notice you again on LinkedIn → call three weeks later.

Which channel gets the credit?
Usually, the last measurable one.

But that doesn’t mean the earlier touchpoints didn’t matter.

Good digital marketing is often cumulative.

Social media builds familiarity. Search helps people find you. Website content builds confidence. Email keeps you visible. Referrals send people looking for reassurance.

The interesting question isn’t always “Which post generated this lead?” Sometimes it’s:
“Are more of the right people seeing us, finding us, recognising us and trusting us?”

Sometimes the job isn’t replacing it — it’s making it stronger.

This alloy truck tray came into the Rossco workshop needing some extra reinforcement, which meant plenty of welding to strengthen it up where it counted.

Not every job is a brand-new fabrication. Sometimes it’s about taking what’s already there, finding the weak points and putting the work in to get it ready for more.

From rag bolts in the formwork to 140 metres of bridge rail in place at Westbrook.

Last week, we showed the groundwork behind this Truganina project — setting out and welding the rag bolts into position before the concrete was poured.

Now you can see what all that prep was for.

With help from Statewide Cranes to deliver and unload the steel on site, the Rossco crew then manually lifted the remaining rail sections into position — 140 metres worth.

Piece by piece, post by post, the rail is now sitting where those fixings were set from the start.

A good reminder that the finished job is only as good as the work that goes in underneath it.

We’ve been lucky to have had and continue to have the support of the wonderful skills from Wide Open Co for years now. We’ve worked collaboratively on projects and they’ve helped us with marketing and social media.

I haven’t posted much about my own business lately. The irony is that I’ve been busy helping other businesses show up consistently.

In fact, the past few months have been particularly busy — just not on my own social channels.

A lot of my time has been spent on ongoing client work: planning and creating social media content, developing useful website content, improving search visibility through SEO, and making sure the different parts of a business’s communication work together.

There have been a couple of changes on my side too. I’ve returned to my maiden name, Meghan Hoogenraad, and finally replaced the seven-year-old profile photo with something a little more current. So if the name or face looks slightly different, it’s still me.

It’s the ongoing work I really enjoy: getting to know a business properly, understanding what it needs to communicate, and keeping things moving rather than treating every job as a one-off project.

And while I’ve been busy doing that for other businesses, I’ve done a fairly ordinary job of doing it for my own.

So this is me changing that.

I now have room for one or two more ongoing clients who need regular help with their marketing and communications — particularly social media, website content and SEO.

You’ll also be seeing a little more of Wide Open Co. around here again.

Remember those 50 rag bolts?

Last month, we showed them being prepped for an upcoming bridge rail project in Westbrook. Now they’re exactly where they need to be.

The boys have been on site welding the rag bolts into the formwork, setting out each fixing point so that once the concrete is poured and cured, the bridge rail can go on where it’s meant to — plumb, square and properly aligned.

It’s a good look at what happens before the finished steelwork ever arrives on site.

Get the groundwork right now, and the next stage goes a whole lot smoother.
