𝗕𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁!

Back in January 2018, PCA Ground Engineering delivered a bespoke micropile foundation solution for 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘓𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 at Sydney’s iconic Circular Quay.

Faced with tight site constraints and complex loading demands, we used self-drilling hollow bar micropiles installed at raked angles - an innovative alternative to conventional bored piles.

Specialist limited-access rigs made it all possible, right on the edge of Sydney Harbour.

A great outcome for all stakeholders, and not a bad view for our site crew either!

𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗞𝗲𝗺𝗽𝘀𝗲𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲

Most people walking along the Macleay River will never see them, but sheet piles are performing the critical retaining function that underpins the whole foreshore design.

These interlocking steel sections lock the riverbank in place, resist erosion, and form a strong, durable wall. A concrete capping beam ties it all together, stabilising the foreshore for years to come.

As transmission assets age, foundation upgrades become increasingly necessary - but often come with operational and environmental constraints. PCA Ground Engineering’s 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗞-𝗟𝗼𝗞 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 offers a practical solution to this challenge.

𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸.

PCA Ground Engineering is proud to be delivering the Kempsey Foreshore Stabilisation Project - a key part of Kempsey Shire Council’s broader Riverside Precinct revitalisation.

Stretching 449 metres along the Macleay River, this project involves the installation of a sheet pile wall with an anchored capping beam designed to stabilise the riverbank, mitigate erosion, and safeguard community infrastructure for decades to come.

Beyond the engineering, this is about resilience - protecting a space that connects people to the river and enabling the next phase of the foreshore’s redevelopment.

We’re excited to partner with Kempsey Shire Council to deliver a lasting solution that supports both the environment and the community.

𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱, 𝗦𝗻𝗼𝘄𝘆 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀: 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲

When part of Forsters Road gave way, PCA was called in by Snowy Valleys Council to deliver a bespoke slope stabilisation solution.

Our solution combined Driven Piles and Tie Back Anchors, installed by our specially trained crews working in and around live overhead power lines.

With road space at a premium, we kept the program moving using excavator-mounted vibratory and drop hammer attachments.

The outcome? A stabilised slope, safe access restored, and a project delivered on time and within budget.

At Viva Energy’s Gore Bay terminal, PCA engineers custom-designed a 21-metre long waler beam to stabilise a rock face located just metres from a diesel storage tank.

Installed by our expert rope access team and anchored with stressed rock bolts, this precision-engineered solution resists critical overturning forces - delivering safety and stability in a highly constrained environment.

A strong example of PCA’s commitment to intelligent design and safety-led engineering.

𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝘂𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁!

PCA Ground Engineering was proud to be named a finalist in the prestigious World Cup of Micropiles, representing the Australasian region at the 16th International Conference of the International Society for Micropiles (ISM).

Our finalist project showcased PCA’s 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗞-𝗟𝗼𝗞 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺, designed to replace aging transmission tower foundations without taking the line out of service - a game-changer for live-line infrastructure upgrades.

The 𝗞-𝗟𝗼𝗞 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 is part of our turnkey design and construct service for transmission infrastructure. From initial site investigation and engineering design through to full installation, we are able to deliver fast, low-impact upgrades that:

• Enable foundation replacement or strengthening under live load
• Reduce site disturbance and environmental impact
• Improve asset and network resilience
• Extend the life of existing towers
• Deliver cost-effective results - often less than 10% of full tower replacement
