We’ve learned over the years that machining composites requires its own set of skills, not just minor adjustments to our work with metals.
Unlike metals, composites like Tufcot® behave differently when being machined. They can produce heat in various ways. They require specialised tools and using the right feeds and speeds is crucial to prevent surface damage.
This is why experience is important.
A machinist who knows the unique characteristics of composites can create clean edges, exact tolerances and the surface finish necessary for a long life.
This is one reason we have made composite machining a key part of what we do. The difference between being “machined” and being “machined right” is clear in performance.
