Premier Peter Gutwein has revealed more details about how the government's travel voucher scheme will work.

The $7.5 million scheme, aimed at encouraging mid-week travel across the state, will run between September 7 and December 1, including over the school holidays.

⚠️ SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING
for DAMAGING WINDS
Issued at 2:24 pm Monday, 30 December 2019.

Weather Situation:
Scattered, gusty thunderstorms cross parts of Tasmania as a cold front approaches the west. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations that may be affected include Strahan, Queenstown, New Norfolk, Bothwell, Hobart, Geeveston, Dover, Huonville and Dodges Ferry.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132500.
