Z1R was towards the end of the UJM, Universal Japanese Machine that had a duplex frame, DOHC four across the frame and twin shock rear end. They were a big step along the road to the bikes we have today although in the day they were famed for not being able to handle of course the bikes that did handle well had about half as much horsepower. Anyway good looking old bike with the owner's custom Turbo, what's not to love about that?

Back in the 70’s they didn’t have GoPros.....they had Larry and Larry wasn’t 1080p and 4K with a mini GoPro. 😂

Speeds while filming this iconic scene reached 105mph / 170kmh with a passenger sans helmet while filming with a massive cinematic camera?!?! 😮

We did heat barrier coatings on the turbo and exhausts, as well as heat transfer coatings on the intercooler, radiator and all the ducting. Graham Horner took it off and stunned the drag racing community with his results.

RESULTS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES - NO DYNO QUEENS HERE. OUT THERE BRINGING BACK HUGE RESULTS. Up against the tuffest street cars in australia placing 7th outright, 4th in radial blown and to top it off the following day winning APSA X275. Not to mention racing OZ NATS in adelaide before drag challenge and also winning the drag event... oh one more too, having a huge photo in Swan hills local paper for the opening of their new track. Its been an amazing journey with the team. Of course it couldn't of been done without Graeme Horner's huge commitment and Awesome driving skills. Never skipping a beat and performing consistently at every track. Big Up's to Brett from gawler mechanical along with Graeme for providing a strong engine package which has gone the distance time and time again. Ian Hodshon for being a big part of the crew for the whole week making us a real team. Cant forget Luke for flying over with a converter which we changed friday morning and of course his little sayings Flying the flag and being the most successful shop from South Australia !!!!!! We aint done yet. We just getting started. See less
