Yesterday, Bas Tijdhof was the star of our all-hands meeting as we reluctantly said farewell and celebrated the remarkable contribution he has made to Link Assistive and the assistive communication community across Australia and New Zealand.
The team shared fond memories and insightful stories, reflecting on the substantial impact Bas has had not only on the AAC community, but also on his team, colleagues, family and now lifelong friends. It was a bittersweet day as tears flowed and we wished Bas well on his next adventure.
Bas' passion for custom computer access and communication solutions began in 1999, when he saw first-hand the life-changing difference the right technology could make.
Guided by a strong belief in the potential of assistive communication, Bas founded Link Assistive in 2008. What began in a spare bedroom grew into a trusted provider of assistive communication solutions, supporting individuals with communication and mobility challenges, as well as their families, caregivers and professionals.
Throughout that journey, Bas remained committed to a simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves the opportunity to communicate, connect and participate.
In 2024, Link Assistive joined the Tobii Dynavox family, marking an important new chapter and strengthening our shared commitment to communication, independence and inclusion.
As Bas now begins his own next chapter, we want to thank him for his vision, leadership and dedication. The relationships he has built, the values he has championed and the foundation he leaves behind will continue to shape our work for many years to come.
Thank you, Bas. We wish you every happiness in whatever comes next.
