Hisashi Nakade’s RHD dash model is progressing nicely and edging closer to print.

I’m working carefully to make small adjustments to the fitment to ensure mating surfaces and bolt up points all align well with the dash mounting points and am happy with the way it’s progressing, a few more tweaks then I’ll finalise the gauge mounts.

Once done here on the RHD - I’ll pivot to the LHD 🤟

Hisashi is also getting enthusiastic about some other projects including the NB and I look forward to sharing those in the future.

A proving day..

What a stunning day out at Mallala today with my boys supporting Cody at the Round 3 of the Drifting SA State series Drift Championship.

I’ve been making a number of parts for Cody’s car and today was another opportunity to put them through their paces 🤟

I look forward to offering them to the 86/ BRZ community very shortly.

I’ve had lots of custom projects on the go in the background, as well as another little surprise in a few weeks time … but finally after countless scanning efforts and god knows however many thousand tracking dots, I’ve got the core data I need for my fastback design.

My first scan on the outside looked great with my older scanner and it continues to serve its purpose well , but I have trust issues on large items as scanners can loose alignment even with tracking over large whole car elements.

With my new powerhouse PC build and new scanner I must say I’m extremely happy with the accuracy of the exoskeleton I’ve captured.

The scan captures all core mating surfaces to build from , front seals, front mounting bolt points, window seals, rear deck, rear mounting points, as well as the interior frame work of the chassis boot and latch location.

Overlaying these is really looking cool, I have a few novel ideas to bring to play here and look forward to sharing the shape and detail as I get into it🤟

Something 80s, Damians 1981 Mazda B series ute

Working across borders and the Bass Strait by messenger and photos I worked closely with Damian Mallinson to make a small detail on his old dash come to life.

Not a complex project print wise but getting the fitment right requires good comms on both ends which helps make any project run smoothly.

The print came out great ready for install and paint, and Damian did a great job finishing it off.

Such a cool Ute🔥

It’s pretty cool connecting with people all over the country and world with this work 🤟

Oh so Seveney…Sometimes you’ve no idea if a concept will work, but then you think to yourself theres only one way to find out….

So I sourced this dirty FD RX7 rear hatch with some good donor glass to help me along the way with my fastback project.
I’m yet to decide on glass or shaped lexan but likely the latter.

I’ve got a few concept overlays coming to check the lines and I’m loving the way it’s coming together

A few more scans to be done before I jump into modelling in earnest but sourcing a hatch that I could start to play with was a big ticket item.

Lots to be learned on this project and I look forward to the challenge 🤟

A custom GPS dash mounting solution for the NC completed ✅

After scanning, modelling and printing this GPS mounting has come out beautifully clean.

This mounting is mounted with 3M tape, has a minimalist housing design, cable slots for the power feed, angled down and toward the driver position to aid viewing and minimise reflections.

Printed out of a glass reinforced ASA, I love the finish👍

Gone walkabout and got lost? ..

…not anymore with this new GPS being mounted in a local NC mx5.

This is a custom dash mounted housing for a GPS unit I’ve just designed taking it through a well practiced workflow.

I’m really looking forward to seeing this installed should look good

👍

Something Collaborative…

I’ve been busy progressing lots of different projects recently, but quietly waited for my new scanner to arrive before I got a spare NA6 dash out from storage.

I’ve done the base modelling of the RHD cluster surround from Hisashi Nakade and needed this to move onto the next step and get a clean fitment👍

Needless to say I’m super happy with the scan data I got with the Einstar and look forward to evolving the design another step closer to the printer 👌

My Toyota 86 first gen digital dash mounting for an Emtron EDM7 digital dash.

Love this finish and that
satisfying click 👌

Feel free to reach out to have one customised for other dashes.
