We recently worked with South Australian manufacturer Coiltek Manufacturing to modify two existing glue presses used in the production of their premium metal detector coils.

The project involved adapting the presses to accommodate new tooling and work alongside Coiltek’s automated gluing process, helping them make better use of their existing equipment. A great example of how a relatively small modification can make a big difference to a manufacturing process.

Last week, we brought the WMF team together at the workshop for a MATES in Construction SA event as part of Fly the Flag week and to mark R U OK? Day.

With woodfired pizzas from Locale Catering on the menu, it was a chance to take a break, have a chat and spend some time together. A good reminder to check in with our mates and keep those conversations going throughout the year.

Next in our Meet the Team series is Josh Klaer – or ‘Josh K’, as he’s known thanks to the 3 other Joshes at WMF! Josh joined us as a boilermaker in 2014 and has since progressed through several roles to become our Marine and Construction Manager.

Josh is known for getting stuck in and leading by example. He keeps work moving, even when deadlines are tight, and always wants to make sure clients are happy with the end result.

He spends plenty of time out and about, managing our onsite installation work and marine projects, which have grown significantly over the past few years.

It’s time for another ‘Meet the Team’. This time it’s the backbone of our company - Christy Smithers!

Christy has been part of the Williams Metal Fabrications team since 2011, bringing more than 20 years of experience in administration and finance related roles.

Christy leads our administration team and looks after many of the important behind the scenes functions that keep us running smoothly. Her role spans administration, HR and payroll, and she is also our Return to Work Coordinator.

But really, Christy is known for being easy going, efficient and always up for a laugh.

Outside of work, Christy is kept busy by her two kids, whose hobbies have apparently replaced any she once had of her own! Her days off are filled with the glamorous pursuits of cleaning, washing and grocery shopping - and whatever her kids have planned for her.

After 15 years at WMF, Christy is very much part of the furniture – and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Congratulations to the following team members on their years of service with Williams Metal Fabrications:

Christy Smithers – 15 years
Christy leads our administration team and is also responsible for HR and payroll, as well as serving as our Return to Work Coordinator.

Josh Paterson – 15 years
As Production Manager, Josh is the link between the workshop and management. He also keeps clients informed throughout their projects, helping ensure jobs stay on schedule and on budget.

Adam Chamings – 7 years
Adam is a Senior Site Supervisor and does a great job overseeing site projects and supporting our customers on site.

Thank you all for your dedication, hard work and contribution to the business over the years. We appreciate everything you do and look forward to celebrating many more milestones together.
