Europe's first nationwide electronic tolling scheme, launched way back in 2001 in Switzerland, is preparing for the Third Generation Heavy Vehicle Charge (HVG, or LSVA in German). In the new tender that will be released shortly, the Swiss demonstrate innovation in distance-based road user charging, and will rely on the wide use of the European Electronic Toll Service.

Switzerland upgrades its satellite-based Heavy Vehicle Charge to “HVC III” (“LSVA III” in German) with three individual tenders.

India is moving forward with its plans to replace more than 700 toll plazas with satellite-based tolling. The national highway network alone is more than 130,000 kilometers in length and growing fast – more than 36 km of new highways are built EVERY DAY! By the end of 2022, the new GNSS-based toll system should be implemented.
