In the beginning of January I started working on my third synergy horn project. After months of sourcing components, designing, planing and countless hours in the workshop, the finish line is in sight.
Now it's sanding, sanding, sanding, applying some lacquer and installing the components.
As always super itchy to hear the first tones..

Here are the finished Chorus 52 ACL by Acoustic Design Wohlgemuth. The enclosures are made of birch plawood and the front is solid acacia wood. They sound really well balanced and deliver a lot of detail in all kinds of music. The bass performance is really crazy, you don't expect a 5 inch speaker to produce so much clear and deep bass. Another great kit for the price!The new owner seemed quite happy 😊

Hier sind die fertigen chorus 52 ACL von Acoustic Design Wohlgemuth. Die Gehäuse sind aus Birkensperrholz mit einer massiven Front aus Akazie. Der Klang ist sehr ausgewogen und die zeigen viele Details bei allen Musikrichtungen. Der Bass ist für die Grösse wirklich beeindruckend. Mal wieder ein toller Bausatz zu einem guten Preis.
Der neue Besitzer wirkte ganz zufrieden ☺️

This is the final part of my collaboration with aixFOAM. I have build 15 absorbers, and finally placed them in our living room. They look great and the effect they have on the room acoustic is just dramatic. My hifi system never sounded so good. High frequency response is much smoother and the stereo image is just incredible.
If your looking for a serious improvement in your system, this is the way to go. Not expensive cables, amps or dacs.

Der Klang meiner Anlage hat sich dramatisch verbessert und dekorativ sind sie auch. Der Hochton meiner Anlage und auch die Stereoabbildung haben sich stark verbessert. Ich bin Restlos begeistert. Here is the 3rd part of my collaboration with Aixfoam.
After sanding, painting and oiling the frames it was time for the final assembly. I build the frames the same size as the acoustic foam panels which are 100x50cm. This results in a very tight fit, and there is no need for staples or other fasteners. I just cut the fabric with 10cm excess on all sides, remove the corner material and then just pull the fabric in place. This was by far the most efficient and timesaving method for this job.

Hier ist der dritte Teil meiner Zusammenarbeit mit Aixfoam.
Nach dem Schleifen, Beizen und Ölen der Rahmen, war es nun an der Zeit die Einzelteile zu verbinden.
Die Rahmen haben das gleiche Innenmaß wie die Schaumstoffplatten (100x50cm), was zu einem guten Sitz führt und tackern oder ähnliche Befestigungsmittel überflüssig macht. Der Stoff wird mit 10cm Übermaß auf allen Seiten zugeschnitten, die Ecken ausgeschnitten und anschließend der Schaumstoff eingepresst.
Mit ein wenig nachspannen erhält man schnell und einfach ein super Ergebnis.

Here is the second part of my collaboration with the acoustic specialists from Aixfoam
In this video I am glueing the frames for the my absorber panels.
I decided to cut miters and glue them with tape.
Miters look especially good when you use plywood. You can also use dowels, screws or any other method you like.

Hier ist der zweite Teil meiner Zusammenarbeit mit den Akustikspezialisten von Aixfoam.
In diesem Video verleime ich die Rahmen für meine Absorber.
Ich habe mich für eine Gehrung entschieden, da diese beim Sperrholz besonders gut aussieht und mit Klebeband relativ schnell zu verleimen ist.
Ihr könnt die Rahmen aber auch mit Dübeln, Schrauben oder anderen Methoden verbinden.

Hier verleime ich gerade die massive Front aus Schwarznuss mit dem Subwoofergehäuse.
Diese Einhandzwingen sind der Hammer, was Gewicht und Schnelligkeit angeht.

This is me glueing up a mitered box for a big subwoofer build I will realise this week. I got a tip for this glue up using only tape and no clamps. I wasnt sure at first but the result is amazing, and it's faster than any method I have tried so far.
The walls are 34mm thick and I will be using a 15 inch subwoofer from Eton. Can't wait to hear this monster!

With me being an hifi enthusiast, building new acoustic absorber panels for our living room was long on my to-do-list and I am happy to announce a collaboration.
Aixfoam are specialists when it comes to room acoustic treatment in industry, music studios and home use. They provided me their SH 001 acoustic foam panels and beautiful „Trevira“ acoustic cloth in beige and bordeaux for free.
Room acoustic is a big topic that many audiophiles tend to forget, ignore or underestimate.
Especially in modern homes with big open space, large windows and empty walls, room acoustic treatment is essential for hearing the full potential of your hifi system.
I am excited for the results and looking forward for the build.

Neue Akustikabsorber für unsere halliges Wohnzimmer zu bauen, stand schon lange auf meiner To-Do-Liste und ich bin froh nun eine Kooperation ankündigen zu dürfen.
Aixfoam sind Spezialisten im Bereich Akustiklösungen für Industrie, Musikstudios und Heimanwendungen. Sie haben mir ihren SH001 Schaumstoff und den wunderschönen „Trevira“ Akustikstoff kostenlos für mein Projekt zur Verfügung gestellt.
Leider ist Raumakustik ein Thema, welches Musikliebhaber und Audiophile oft vernachlässigen.
Das ist ein großer Fehler, denn besonders in modernen offenen Wohnräumen kommt man, meiner Meinung nach, nicht an akustischen Maßnahmen vorbei, wenn man das volle Potenzial seiner Anlage ausreizen möchte.

Here are the final shots from the finished black walnut table and the sideboard. The table is over 3 meters and is the biggest I have ever made so far. The sideboard is over 2 meters and was also quite big and labour intensive. I had much fun and pleasure with this project.
I hope there is more to come.
