The Consulate General of China in Dubai, together with the Confucius Institute at the University of Dubai, POWERCHINA, and Yuxiangyuan Traditional Culture Pavilion, recently hosted a Dragon Boat Festival cultural event in Dubai.
Local university students and POWERCHINA employees joined a variety of hands-on activities, including making zongzi, crafting sachets, weaving five-color bracelets, experiencing the traditional herbal water washing ritual, enjoying a tea ceremony, and trying on Hanfu. The event was filled with laughter and lively exchanges as participants experienced Chinese traditions firsthand.
For POWERCHINA, the celebration was more than a festive gathering. As we help advance green development across the UAE, cultural events like these create opportunities for people-to-people connections, fostering mutual understanding and strengthening the friendship between China and the UAE.

Recently, POWERCHINA MENA, in collaboration with the Hassyan 180 MIGD SWRO IWP Project team, the project owner, and DECCA, organized a mangrove planting initiative in the UAE. Around 40 volunteers from different countries took part, planting a total of 501 saplings.
During the event, volunteers received an introduction to the crucial role mangroves play in carbon sequestration, coastal protection, and the preservation of marine biodiversity. Guided by experts, they planted the saplings themselves in the wetland. The site is located adjacent to the Hassyan marine dredging area, and the new mangroves will help restore coastal vegetation while supporting ecological compensation and environmental rehabilitation.
This marks POWERCHINA MENA’s third consecutive year of marine conservation efforts in the UAE. The organization remains committed to taking concrete action in fulfilling its social responsibilities and contributing to the UAE’s Sustainable Development Goals. deccadxb

The 2026 Chinese Bridge Language Proficiency Competition UAE Regional Finals for primary, middle, and university students were successfully held at Zayed University. POWERCHINA proudly participated as a co-organizer for the second consecutive year. The UAE Country Representatives from POWERCHINA MENA attended the event and presented awards to the outstanding winners.
This year's competition attracted a record number of participants, reflecting the growing popularity of Chinese language learning across the UAE. Through speeches, calligraphy, singing, dancing, shadow puppetry, and even the traditional art of face-changing, contestants showcased both their language skills and their appreciation for Chinese culture.
As a supporter of the UAE's "Hundred Schools Project," POWERCHINA remains committed to advancing Chinese language education, fostering cultural exchange, and strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between China and the United Arab Emirates.

Come and see what young people at POWERCHINA UAE are up to!
We regularly invite local university students to visit our project sites and see firsthand how solar panels transform sunlight into clean energy. During festivals such as the Mid-Autumn Festival and Dragon Boat Festival, Chinese and Arab youth come together to make mooncakes, practice calligraphy, and build friendships through shared laughter and experiences. In everyday conversations, they exchange stories — from the desert to the Yangtze, from oil to solar. Different lands, different energy journeys, yet the same hopes for the future.
Every interaction plants a new seed of friendship. Join us in this cultural exchange as we move together toward a future that is more inclusive, vibrant, and full of possibility.

This Earth Day, let’s explore the environmental commitment behind the Hassyan 180 MIGD SWRO IWP Project in the UAE, constructed by POWERCHINA.
Using world-class reverse osmosis technology, the project produces around 818,000 tonnes of fresh water each day — enough to meet the needs of nearly 1.8 million residents in Dubai. During construction, the team also took active steps to protect the surrounding environment, regularly cleaning the beach and removing plastic bottles, fishing nets, and other debris to safeguard the nearby wetland and its biodiversity. By balancing infrastructure development with ecological care, the project has earned high praise from local environmental authorities.

The UAE–China Business Promotion Conference was recently held in Beijing. Mr. Yu Libo, President of PowerChina International, attended the event and participated in a roundtable discussion on the next phase of bilateral energy cooperation.
