Call for Full Papers: Large Infrastructures
Submission deadline: March 30, 2026 (for SEI May 2027)
We invite researchers, practitioners, and industry professionals to submit full papers for a special issue of the SEI journal on Large Infrastructures in Structural Engineering. This theme focuses on the analysis, design, construction, maintenance, upscaling, and resilience of large-scale infrastructure systems that are essential to modern societies.
Large infrastructures such as long-span bridges, high-rise buildings, tunnels, dams, offshore structures, and transportation networks pose unique technical, environmental, and societal challenges. This issue of SEI aims to bring together innovative research, advanced engineering practices, and interdisciplinary perspectives, addressing these challenges.
Topics of Interest (including but not limited to):
• Design and construction of large-scale structures
• Long-span bridges and tall buildings
• Tunnels, underground and offshore structures
• Seismic, wind, and climate-induced loading on large infrastructures
• Structural health monitoring and digital twins of large assets
• Durability, ageing, and life-cycle assessment
• Resilience and risk-based design
• Innovative materials and construction technologies
• Sustainability and carbon reduction strategies
• Retrofitting and strengthening of existing infrastructures
• Climate adaptation of existing infrastructure
• AI and data-driven approaches in structural engineering
• Infrastructure under extreme and multi-hazard events
• Asset management of large infrastructure assets and networks
Full Paper Submission:
The paper should clearly describe the objectives, methodology, and key findings of the proposed contribution. Submissions may be theoretical, experimental, numerical, or based on case studies and real-world applications. We welcome both Technical Reports as well as Scientific Papers.
This call is addressed to academic researchers, structural and civil engineers, infrastructure owners and operators, consultants and policymakers, PhD students and early-career professionals.
Submission Guidelines:
Please check SEI Author Guidelines for writing the paper and submit your paper here.
Paper can be submitted in ‘Scientific Paper’ or ‘Technical Reports’ category.
