Strengthening the Smith Power Equipment management team! 😎

We are pleased to welcome Lucas Groenewald as National Sales Manager for Kubota South Africa.

Lucas brings more than 30 years of experience in the agricultural sector, with an extensive background in sales and marketing leadership, dealer network development and market expansion across Africa and international markets. He will oversee the day-to-day management and growth of our Kubota business, working closely with our team and dealers and reporting directly to Dennis van der Merwe.

We also congratulate Dennis van der Merwe on his promotion to General Manager: Agri & Construction.

Dennis will continue to have direct oversight of both Kubota and Deutz-Fahr, remaining actively involved in the leadership and strategic development of both brands. Lucas’s appointment strengthens Kubota’s dedicated operational leadership, while maintaining Dennis’s continued involvement in the business and support for our dealer network.

Toe landboukontrakteur Andrew Hobson se Deutz-Fahr-trekker weens ’n tegniese probleem buite werking was, het Smith Power Equipment, met David Kelder se betrokkenheid, gehelp om ’n praktiese omruilingsreëling te tref.

Andrew het sy trekker aangekoop voordat Smith Power Equipment vroeër vanjaar die eksklusiewe verspreiding van Deutz-Fahr se volle produkreeks oorgeneem het. Die span het nietemin betrokke geraak om hom te help, met die doel om verdere verlies aan werktyd en die impak op die boere wat van sy dienste afhanklik is, te beperk.

An impressive fleet of 66 electric golf carts from Tara Electric Golf Carts - South Africa was used at the recent Golf Day, hosted by Jacaranda 94.2 at Irene Country Club on 18 September 2026. ⛳

It was a great opportunity for us to showcase Tara in a true golf fleet environment, and even better to see the carts out on course performing reliably throughout the day.

As the sole distributor of Tara in the region, Smith Power Equipment is proud to support more sustainable mobility on the golf course by bringing reliable electric alternatives to the South African market.
