🚨 URGENT PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT: ESCALATING RAINFALL ACROSS NELSON MANDELA BAY 🚨

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality urgently calls on all residents to exercise extreme caution as heavy rainfall continues to intensify across parts of the Metro. Current weather conditions are creating dangerous driving conditions, localised flooding, rising water levels, and increased risk in low lying areas.

Residents are strongly advised to remain vigilant and prioritise safety at all times.

⚠️ IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
• Avoid crossing flooded roads, bridges, streams, and low water crossings.
• Do not attempt to drive through standing or flowing water.
• Motorists are urged to reduce speed, switch on headlights, and maintain safe following distances.
• Residents in flood prone and low lying areas must remain alert and monitor conditions closely.
• Keep children away from rivers, stormwater channels, and flooded areas.
• Avoid unnecessary travel unless absolutely essential.
• Secure household items and remain indoors where possible.

Emergency and disaster response teams remain on high alert and continue to monitor affected areas across the Metro.

Residents are urged to immediately contact Emergency Services, Disaster Management officials, or their Ward Councillors should assistance be required or dangerous conditions be identified within communities.
