Here at Xrossbow we are in the business of manufacturing attractive sleek sidesteps for modern vehicles. They are often referred to as running boards. Several times we have been asked where the term "running board" originates from. This excellent photograph by Adrian van Leen from Perth, Western Australia, seems to explain what is meant by the word "board" - in this case the running board is literally constructed of wooden boards.
