Most people see a road. We see the warning signs.

The crack that could become a pothole.
The drainage issue that could compromise the structure.
The surface wear that signals something deeper.

Because road maintenance isn't just about fixing what's broken. It's about understanding what happens before it breaks.

Every inspection. Every assessment. Every intervention.

It's how we help protect road infrastructure, extend asset life, and reduce the risk of costly failures.

What You Drive Over. We Look Into.

Recognition Follows The Work.

The Everton Project. Award-winning delivery, told by the people who experienced it.

Awards recognise achievement.

But the real measure of a project is found on the ground.

In the infrastructure delivered.
In the opportunities created.
In the people uplifted.
And in the relationships built along the way.

VEA Roads' Everton Project was recognised with the Project Delivery Excellence of the Year – Women-Owned Construction Entity award.

But this story isn't only ours to tell.

In this video, the people who experienced the project share what the work meant to them, the impact it created, and why the relationships built with VEA Roads matter beyond project completion.

The award celebrates the project.
The people tell you why it deserved to win.

The pothole is what the road user sees.

But the problem may have started long before the surface failed.

A crack that wasn't addressed.
Water getting where it shouldn't.
Progressive surface deterioration.
Repeated traffic loading.
Changing weather conditions.

Road failure rarely begins with the moment it becomes impossible to ignore.

That's why effective road maintenance isn't only about fixing what's already broken.

It's about recognising the warning signs, intervening at the right time and protecting the asset before deterioration becomes failure.

This Transport Month, we're putting the spotlight on the work road users may never notice when it's done well, but road infrastructure depends on every day.

Because the best maintenance intervention can be the one that prevents the emergency repair altogether.

A Historic First. A Proud Moment for VEA Road.

Our Managing Director, Thoko Tshabalala-Shandu, is set to become the first woman inducted into the SABCA Hall of Fame. The ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, 7 November 2026, and SABCA has announced it as a first in its history.

The first.

In an industry that has long been male-dominated, that matters, for Thoko and for every woman building a career in construction.

The honour is Thoko's. But think about what it takes to build a name like ours. The crew that checks the barricading twice. The planner who catches the clash before it costs a day. The colleague who gets the paperwork right. The person who looks after a client properly. Most of it goes unseen, and all of it is what the VEA name stands for.

Congratulations, Thoko. We are proud of you.

Transport Month puts the spotlight on the journeys that keep South Africa moving.

But before the first delivery leaves the depot and before the morning commute begins, there's work that happens first.

Roads have to be inspected, maintained, and rehabilitated for the people and businesses that depend on them every day.

That work happens on the ground, with teams who know that keeping a road performing is about more than the surface. It's about protecting everything the road carries.

This Transport Month, we're taking you behind the scenes to meet the people, see the projects, and understand the work that keeps our roads performing.

Before South Africa Moves. We Go To Work.

Follow along this Transport Month as we take you on the road with the VEA Roads team.

A proud moment for VEA Road Maintenance and Civils.

Thakhani Netshirenzheni represented our team at the Master Builders South Africa Annual Congress, joining industry leaders and fellow panellists to discuss “Building South Africa as the Gateway to Africa through Investment and Smart Infrastructure.”

Thakhani brought an important perspective to the conversation: the future of infrastructure is not only about what we build, but how intelligently, responsibly, and sustainably we build it.

From climate resilience and smarter resource use to infrastructure that continues creating value for future generations, these are the conversations shaping the future of our industry.

The Congress also started on a winning note, with Day 1 kicking off on the golf course and Thakhani’s team taking the win.

From meaningful industry conversations to a little friendly competition, it was a proud few days of representation for VEA Roads.

Well done, Thakhani, and thank you for representing VEA Roads with distinction.

From the roads that take us home to the ones that carry us towards something new.

Across different communities, cultures, and languages, every journey adds another chapter to the story of South Africa.

And through it all, our roads connect us.

This Heritage Day, we celebrate where we come from, what connects us, and what we are building together.

Happy , Mzansi.

May the roads we build today carry the stories of generations still to come.

A project may have a completion date. Its impact doesn’t.

Long after the teams leave site and the machinery moves on, the road remains.

It carries people to work.
Children to school.
Goods to market.
Businesses forward.
Families home.

Kilometre by kilometre, that infrastructure becomes part of how communities connect, economies function and opportunities are reached.

This Heritage Month, we’re reminded that the roads we deliver today will serve people long after the work is complete.

That makes every kilometre a responsibility.

Deliver For Today. Build With Tomorrow In Mind.
