This is part of the process behind an IP68 waterproof fan.

Potting compound is applied around the PCB and motor electronics to seal and protect them from water and moisture.

The compound used here is specified with a cured hardness below Shore 60, leaving some flexibility around the electronic components, while its 1.6 W/(m·K) thermal conductivity helps move heat away after the electronics are encapsulated.

Water protection matters, but so does managing the heat trapped inside.

What's actually in a MEGA Tech model number?

Take 12038H12B-1701. Looks like a random string of characters, but every part means something.

12038 = size, 120 x 38mm.

H = performance version.

12 = rated voltage, 12V.

B = bearing type, ball bearing.

1701 = special function code, used for specific parts or customer configurations.

Once you know how to read it, a model number tells you almost everything about the fan before you even open the datasheet.

This equipment is used to cut silicon steel for motor components. Also known as electrical steel, this material is commonly used in motor cores for its magnetic properties and low core loss.

UL94 V-0 is more than just a material callout.

For this 40 × 40 × 10 mm DC brushless fan, both the frame and impeller use plastic rated to the UL94 V-0 flammability classification.

That rating refers to how the material performs during a standardized vertical-burning test. It does not mean the finished fan is fireproof, but it does provide an important material specification for applications where flame resistance matters.

From raw metal to a finished fan frame.

This is a look at the die-casting process used to form one of our metal fan frames. After the part comes out of the mold, the excess casting material is removed before it moves on to the next stage of production.

Metal-frame fans are built for applications where a more rigid and durable housing is needed.
