Apprentice lineworkers enrolled at Des Moines Area Community College and Marshalltown Community College had a chance to demonstrate their skills at yesterday’s 2026 Powerline Rodeo in Ankeny, IA.

Hosted at the Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities Training Complex, approximately 50 competitors took in such events as Hurtman Rescue, crossarm changeout, speed climb (competitors held a raw egg in their mouths on the way down), and bucket lift.

We thank IAMU for the opportunity to sponsor lunch for the group and to attend their annual event.

2026 is a year of celebration for RESCO, as we commemorate our 90 years of providing service to utilities throughout the Midwest and Northern Plains. And yesterday, we achieved another important milestone in the history of our cooperative, as ground was broken on the site of our new facility in the City of Dilworth, Minnesota.

Situated on 15 acres, the 72,000-square-foot location (60,000 square feet of warehouse storage space and 12,000 square feet of office space) reflects our continued commitment to providing our electric utility members and customers with exceptional service and reliable inventory, as well as quick response to weather-related and storm damage needs.

Completion of the facility is expected by early 2027, with full operations beginning in Spring 2027.

Joining RESCO President and CEO Matt Brandrup and Regional Vice President Chris Pederson at the groundbreaking were Dilworth Mayor Chad Olson; Peyton Mastera, Dilworth city administrator; Rich Whitcomb, CEO of Red River Valley Cooperative Power Association; Melissa Beach, economic development administrator at Minnkota Power Cooperative; personnel from our architect firm, River Valley Architects, Inc.; representatives from our builder, Market & Johnson, Inc.; and other local officials.

Meet the RESCO Team

Julene Kraiter
Sales Assistant
Moorhead, MN

Question: Tell me about your role at RESCO.

Answer: I am a sales assistant, and I have a variety of daily activities. My main responsibility consists of entering receiving and invoicing.

Q: How long have you been with the company?

A: April is my one-year anniversary!

Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?

A: Everything! I enjoy being part of a team where the people you work with make you feel truly valued; everyone is so appreciative of what I do, and they're not afraid to let you know.

Q: How has RESCO helped in your career development?

A: I have never worked in this type of industry before, so this job has given me the opportunity to learn something new and to grow every day. I've taken on new responsibilities, gained experience, and developed a better understanding of my strengths and areas I want to continue improving. I am looking forward to what the future holds.

Q: What are your hobbies & passions?

A: I really love a good game night with friends and family. I enjoy traveling internationally. I love spending my free time crafting, playing and watching my grandkids.

I also enjoy camping, walking, and riding my bike. I'm also a HUGE animal lover; if I could live on a sanctuary and take in every unwanted animal on this earth, I'd be in my glory, but for now I am just enjoying my two cats (Izzy and Bella).

Q: What is something people don't know about you?

A: I'm very competitive at playing games. I especially like a good game of pinochle.

Q: What is something you can't live without?

A: My grandchildren. There's no greater love.

Q: If you could be a movie character, who would you choose and why?

A: I would have to choose Dory from “Finding Nemo”, because she is optimistic, a little forgetful, but is always positive and keeps on going no matter what.

On April 4, 1936, representatives from 14 rural electric cooperatives in the state of Wisconsin came together to organize the Wisconsin Rural Electric Cooperative (WEC), the nation’s first statewide electric cooperative and the forebearer of RESCO. The cooperative officially incorporated on April 30 of that year, with a mission to serve the state’s newly-established rural electric cooperatives and the families, businesses, schools, farms, and local governments that were their members.

And our mission and commitment to utility members and customers throughout the Midwest and Northern Plains continues to this day, as their trusted and reliable partner in the procurement of materials and equipment needed to run their operations successfully and efficiently. Over the years, we’ve expanded our service area throughout the Upper Midwest and Northern Plains, with 10 warehouses now servicing 11 states.

Our longevity and success through the years could not be achieved without the incredible support of our members and customers. We thank you for trusting us with your material needs and look forward to the next 90 years of serving your utility.

The team at RESCO wishes you and your family a very happy and safe Easter weekend.
