I've mentioned a number of times that my 1960 Gretsch Chet Atkins Solid Body (Model 6121) is one of my go-to guitars. It's just so much fun to play - a real 'twangster'. I've been giving it a workout the last few days running it through my go-to amp: my Quilter MicroPro Mach 2 with an 8" speaker. The fabulously clean sounding Gretsch Filter'Tron pickups / Quilter amp combination is 'music to my ears'.

It's also 'Western Wednesday' at The Hilmar Hut today. And my early 1956 Gretsch 6120 is 'western' all the way. Note the cows and cactus fingerboard markers, the Chet Atkins signature / signpost logo on the pickguard and the 'G'-brand on the top. And if you look closely you'll see I included a 1950's Vogel western belt buckle (with a chuckwagon / campfire scene) - just like the buckle that was used as part of the tailpiece on Gretsch's 1950's Round-Up model guitars.

Thought you all might want to see this. Some might want to restring their vintage guitars using a Stringray Tool.

Here's another good one for TBT (Throwback Thursday). Who is this baby-faced guy with a cool early Hi-Lo'Tron Gretsch Tennessean you ask - it's a young David Crosby when he was a member of The Byrds - circa 1965.

I'm sure most of you know the name Semie Moseley and are familiar with his Mosrite guitars. Semie was also a guitar player / musician. Here is in on stage / in-action with one of his tripleneck guitars. The gentleman standing behind Semie is Gene Moles - a fine player who was very active in the Southern California music scene in the 1950's and 1960's. Gene recorded with Nokie Edwards (as The Marksmen), was an in-demand session musician and released records under his own name too. In fact, Last week on my Frettin' Fingers Radio Show I played a 45 by Gene called "Durango" - which was released on the Mosrite label. In addition to picking a little guitar, I'm also a radio guy and vintage RCA microphone enthusiast - so I have to mention those RCA 44 series ribbon mics.

I'll be starting my Frettin' Fingers Radio Show later today (Saturday - March 22nd) with some music / guitar playing featuring this gentleman: Dave Gonzalez. He and the rest of The Paladins will kick off the first set of my show with "She's Fine".
